Oooo the Tarva looks very promising!
Will you come to LA and paint it for me and pick out cuter drawer pulls (and help decorate the rest of the house while you’re at it?)

This one. Then you can match your treats when you lounge in them
Owls!
Would love to, but alas, COVID.
Can source drawer pulls and paint ideas from online though!
My husband made me fried rice for breakfast and I thought of this thread and the savory oatmeal debate I understand why he sees it as a breakfast food but I don’t. I ate some for breakfast but didn’t finish it. I will have the rest for lunch tomorrow.
I like this idea.
I decided on the owls because the wine glasses and cheese wedges had little cutesy smiley faces on them and I don’t really do cutesy. Purple spooky owls it is!
I just spent a lot of money on cat toys, but some of them I have plans to copy with the copious cardboard that comes through my house, and some I didn’t buy because I could already see how to make it.
I went looking at Pampoosic Mills (pompy.com) and even with selecting as simple as I could got $3,000 for a dresser. However, they have every year a sample sale (they used to have a seconds sale too, don’t know if they still do).
We managed to get a solid cherry coffee table for about $300, that would have cost us over $1,000 at the time (this is a while ago). Also, since what you’re looking for is basically really classic design, do keep the measurements, the wood, etc. with you and a tape measure. If you find such a thing, buy it.
I have the opposite problem. I have a 1950s gallery quality double dresser that my parents bought. It needs a little work, is solid oak, and either I have to do work to get it to look pretty again to get the value at auction OR I have to sell it “as is” and basically take < $400 probably for a $1,000, collectible dresser. It’s a Brown & Saltman with the mirror and I’ve never seen one with a mirror.
I’ve used this dresser my entire life. I’d like something different before I die, you know? It’s a wonderful piece, but I literally remember standing up one of the first times I did, holding onto the thing. I’m in my late 60s, right?
Thanks, I’ll keep eye out for sales there!
I think you should have the thing that makes your heart happy. Something new after a literal lifetime? Yes.
Okay, budgeting plans for this week
-find two sundresses for my vacation, 3 if I can do it under $100. Use the brands from Marcela and allhat. Make sure I’m sizing up so I can use them here as it warms up

Chicken on salad (g)
Burrito bowls (make black beans, make corn salsa)
Coleslaw
Quesadillas/tacos
Beans and chips
Dinners
Monday - leftovers
Tuesday - roasted salmon or mushrooms with potatoes and coleslaw
Wednesday - burgers (frozen beef, homemade bean) or at parents
Thursday - probably takeout dentist plus getting @smacky
Weekend - depends on smacky and veggie box
Other expected spending this week
Budget Projection 1/31 (OMFG how is it February)
Monday: Rent will process. We need to go to Target while we still can for some essentials (TP, paper towels, Sweet Baby Ray’s ). Got a $10 gift card last time we were in there due to some random promo we qualified for. Goal–spend under $25.
Tuesday: A friend is coming by for dinner. No spend day.
Wednesday-Thursday: Expecting a storm. No spend days
Friday: No plans yet. Maybe we can pick up my wedding ring? Already paid for. If we do that, though, we’ll have to stop by our favorite candy store a block over for a Valentine’s treat…
Saturday: Groceries for next week. We’ve been steadily hitting $95ish
Upcoming Wedding Expenses:
Jewelry and shoes: $200 total
Ketubah (gifted, we just have to design or choose one)
Favor: $650
Siblings/officiant gifts: $300 total…unsure what these will be
I’m doing a great job of not taking any money out of savings for wedding stuff thus far. I put away a good chunk of my EOY 2021 bonus in my IRA and investments. The rest has hung out in checking to pay down the CC when we’ve completed a round of deposits. This feels nice! I may have to dip in to savings when it’s final payment crunch time in March, but so far so good.
Well done @noodle!

Thought I would share some food I’ve made/eaten lately
If you’re ever questioning if we might want this content, the answer is yes! Always!
I would die for her
She wants to grow up into a real sandwich one day. I want to open a mini sandwich shop!
ETA: And if you’re below a certain height you get a discount!
I like this rule. I think I might have Ponder pick up Bahn Mi for us for lunch tomorrow.
I really love being a “regular” at a coffee shop but I found chocolate sauce that lets me make delicious consistent hot chocolates at home and now I don’t need the coffee shop. So maybe I just go once a week to feel special.
