Why can’t the western red cedar be an awesome cypress with wonderfully aromatic wood?

I think the only “fake” thing about it is if the tree was named for the Mediterranean varieties like Lebanon cedar, and then Europeans started calling every similarly aromatic wood a cedar, the North American varieties aren’t actually related to the namesake.

Nothing really better about being a cedar than a Cypress! All trees are valid.
