May Challenge - “May the Force Be with You”

Definitely went for that walk yesterday! Didn’t get far overall because I’m a sap and kept stopping to take pictures of pretty things.

pretty things

  • 7.5 hours of sleep
  • 30 minutes of yoga
  • Recorded both in Rewire
  • Planning to walk later today

Filed a few more things, put away a few skeins of yarn.

Rained all day today, so I’m off the hook. Which is good, as I hid from the cold rain all day.

It threatened to rain here all day, but didn’t actually start raining until about 5pm. Since I have a similar rain clause to yours and had been counting on using it today, I was quite happy when the rain actually started.

It was so stupidly pretty and warm today that I went on a walk. I couldn’t tell if it was too warm or if I was fine with it lol.

I did about 3km of running and a 6km walk

So far so good! I’ve foam rolled every day and am on track with the biking (and so far I’ve been walking on non-biking days too). I’m having a back pain flare up, so I think I’ll adjust this to bike riding three days a week, and the fourth will be a bonus.
At any rate, it’s helping me get outside and get moving! Hoping this becomes a habit.

I haven’t been able to do my strength exercises, but I’m stretching and doing some light activity every day. I am getting into the habit of recording what I do for my research. It’s definitely already helping me feel like I’m making progress instead of just floating around each day.

I may need to amend my goal for weekends to something more like “change out of pajamas before 4 pm.”

Nevertheless, I did the thing. Uncovered and then recovered tomatoes and baby yellow squash, weeded some, went up and bemoaned the fate of my largely eaten turnips, also went out and bemoaned the poor compost-volunteer potato plant (which got blight, so no planting other potatoes there). Then decided I wanted salad with supper, but we’re all out of almost everything fresh, so I gathered plantain, dandelion greens, mint and oxalis and we had weed salads.

I…need to alter my goals. I’m not sure I’ll be able to do yoga or exercise for 30 mins daily or go on walks for a couple weeks (didn’t break my ankle, felt like I broke my ankle).

  • Reading a little bit every day
  • Get 7 hours of sleep 4 nights a week
  • Do my daily “rewirements” homework for Well-Being class

This is doable. I’ll stick with this. Anything extra will be a bonus at this point.

I made a good dent in filing yesterday and stored a few more skeins of yarn.

Week 1 - partial success. Need more of a scheduled effort - that works best for me (letting the clock boss me around). Did 80-100% of the targets for goals. Building a habit.

I had a 50/50 success 4 days this week I stretched or did some cardo. Today I went on a run at 6:30AM and it was great, and I think I’m going to reintegrate that into my daily life even though I find it boring. it is good cardio and outside place is good place.

I wore the heavy boots too long yesterday and caused significant back pain. So today, I did the outside things, but I wore my sandals. Don’t care/not sorry. Really ought to do hiking boots tomorrow, though. Safer wrt ankles, falls, and snakes.

Up to day 11, going to have to actually go through the storage areas of our place to find things to declutter, which was the point of doing this. I’m determined to keep going!

One walk and three bike rides this week (and then my front bike tire decided to revolt, but anyway). It’s a decent start to the month, and I’ll take it

On the plus side: I did the thing again today.

On the negative side: I wore the sandals again.

I have been useless at this the past few days. So lacking in motivation that I didn’t get dressed for 2 days, but I think I have found a way to make myself meditate and do yoga: by making my bossy teenage daughter nag me to do it. She can use her power for good instead of evil.

As of yesterday, we are not allowed to watch our usual after dinner Netflix show (currently “Lovesick” - soooo funny) until I have completed my tasks. Which I would like to do in the morning, but clearly I cannot manage that at this stage, so evenings, after dinner it must be.
