Also he can afford it!
Ramit and I definitely live different lives. (For me to splurge like that on travel on our salaries, I would 100% need to not own a house.)
yes same. i think this is part of the reason he rents?
I get it, but the video was about why weāre travelling wrong and are tired during travel, not just things multi-millionaires get as perks at luxury hotels. He really suggested sending the Holiday Inn our travel preferences. No shade to him - he should travel like that! But most of the ātipsā he gave just do not apply to normal people. Also, maybe I was just in a cynical mood when I watched it.
Ah I did not actually watch it. That is⦠an interesting suggestion.
I have a friend who travels a lot, and I was always thinking - how does she afford this??
Then I remembered that two years ago we spent $3700/month for a whole year for daycare.
Oh yeah, that thing!!
Tbf we could also afford fancy traveling fine if we didnāt want to prioritize savings.
OMG hahahahaha
He said (paraphrasing) āhospitality workers love to make your stay specialā ![]()
I didnt see the video I just saw it on threads and was like āwow Ramit really DOES like berries!ā
I have started sending places āplease do not put scent diffusers in the roomā which is applicable at all budget levels. A cookie a day sounds amazing!
Was just gonna say, I should start sending that to the Home2Suites I go to for work as a bit
When I travelled a lot for work to places like Hoth I would call the holiday inn hotel before my flight and request the heat be set to 23 degrees Celsius because otherwise it would be -40 outside and the heat not turned on for hotel cost savings. Arriving to a freezing room in the evening meant a crappy sleep.
Thatās my only bougie thing I ask for.
You know, Iāve gotten pre-arrival emails from Marriotts before asking if there is anything they can do to make my stay more comfortable. Iāve never thought of actually replying and asking for anything. These are work trips so I am not booking fancy suites or anything, and Iām not super high on the hotel status or anything.
My sister worked for an extended stay Marriott and idk asking for berries would have been a very chill cute thing for her to do for a guest instead of like spending all of her time on the assholes who let their dogs poop inside
I mean, Iāve occasionally emailed Holiday Inn to ask about early check in/late check out, but I figure Iām lucky if they give me a bottle of water at the front desk ![]()
I feel like Marriot is 2 steps above a Holiday Inn ![]()
some of them barely!
Right. He spends proportionally on what he loves most which is fine hotels and travel. Oh, also those Brunello cavatelli ( or whatever that guyās name is) clothes. I looked at them once in Neiman Marcus store and boy howdy are they expensive, like $3000 or $4000 for a sweater.
But Ramit constantly poo pooās buying a house. He doesnāt value, as I do, the ability to paint walls, whatever color you want, have a grounds for gardening, etc. I donāt think heās a car guy either from what I remember.
Todayās couple, Nicole and Drew. What do ya all think?
I mean, other than they are delusionally the most privileged couple on the planet, besides that.

I had a hard time with Drew in particular. The comments on Spotify share my opinion that she is weaponozing therapy language.
I also havenāt looked into the free grocery situation they are talking about in Maui but a couple making 300k getting free groceries doesnāt feel like the point? Maybe they give a lot back to their community to make it full circle.
Iām only about half way through though!
