Grocery day. I am becoming more brazen in my ordering. This is a lot of food.
I forgot (as usual) to photograph my grocery haul yesterday and my receipt is mostly illegible. BUT, I can share a photo of the best part: clearance valentines candy. My total bill was just shy of 44 USD, but a full third of that was clearance candy and snack (8 items):
This had better last me a while (at least through Easter).
I was looking forward to discount chocolates after talk on the forum but was sorely disappointed that my local supermarket didn’t have any
I planned out grocery shopping this week and split it between fruit & veg at the local grocer, meat at the local butcher, and everything else is delivered by the big supermarket. I was planning on the lot coming to less than $200, but the order from the supermarket was $220! I ended up bumping it up to $250 to get free delivery. I did order nappies this week and they were probably the most expensive item, so I really hope we can make at least part-time cloth work for the baby. I am interested to see what the meat and veg ends up costing.
I
My first time participating in this thread! I picked up a few things from the local store that are hard to get via delivery.
We also picked up milk at the corner store for $4.50.
I ordered more staples at Walmart but we will see what actually comes in on Wednesday.
Is that four dozen eggs?
Haha yes. On sale. We eat eggs almost every morning. Also I hate buying eggs via delivery because they crack and leak over everything.
We buy 3-4 dozen eggs every time we shop lol. She’s not alone!
Also $18 of paneer and $16 of berries. I am sure I can get both of those cheaper somewhere but I didn’t feel up to going to a million stores, especially since I don’t have a car so it means a 20 min walk in two different directions.
Not judging on the eggs. I’m the one who buys four gallons of milk at a time, for a household of one.
Though I am curious why two different sizes of eggs?
That wasn’t intentional, actually. Good eye. The smaller size was on sale and mixed in with the larger size. I just didn’t feel up to fixing it at the register. This store has a wide selection but is always crazy packed and busy and lines are long.
I still have three bags left with one week to go until easter discounts. I think I’ll make it!
After a long hiatus, I decided I missed doing this. This came to just about $20, of which like $8 was cream cheese buuuut the baby eats a lot of cream cheese toast and Husband hates the Simple Truth organics foil wrapper (it shreds like crazy) so I’m trying this brand instead.
Pantry snoop! The current status of our stash in our wardrobe. I need to add more dried fruit and tinned beans to it. A “from bulk” shop expanded its delivery services so I’m going to get some more plastic tubs to buy bigger lots of stuff that will live in here as my refill area.
Made labels for the bulk stuff! The new containers make this part of the pantry clean and organized. I do not miss the rubber-banded bags of mystery powders!
Ooh those are very pretty.
My grocery “haul” this week: (nearly) free healthy snacks from Safeway. Total cost: 13 cents, because my state taxes food. The granola was free from Safeway through their app. The cherries were on special for $5 (a pretty good price for 3lb.) and I had a $5 off $5 coupon.
I pretty much only go to Safeway when they have free things, even though it is my closest grocery.
You just reminded me I have cherries in the fridge. Thank you!
Same!
Free food?!? How?
