I’m no meowkins but
In laws are here, and I’m being relaxed about some things that I’m normally uptight about! Everyone is bonding and having fun, and if baby starts having meltdowns I’ll switch things up. But all good so far.
yeah girl you have TWO littles at home, i can’t even compare
not sure i’ve really EVER done this
Gold star to both of you!!!
Nothing says chill more than having to tell people how chill you’re being! I’m fine it’s fine
You are known for your chill. Did you guys solve the table stress?
Famously! No We resolved it by not buying a table or doing our taxes. We have a consult with a couples therapist on Monday and are hoping to do some furniture shopping with his help.
Baby chomped a grape a few times, then took it out of his mouth. Nowhere good to throw it away while I was sitting in the middle seat between them on a road trip. So I ate it.
A while ago I got these time in toolkit things.
Meowlet hated them because they were only ever referenced when he was PISSED and throwing a tantrum. But, now that he’s older and more self-aware, he’s been saying that he did something because “I was angry and I let my anger go. I couldn’t control it. I was letting it go everywhere.” Etc. Well, anyway. I introduced a very simple version of it before bed, talking about the colors of each emotion, how they feel (good or bad, high energy or low energy), and used it to talk about my day.
He sort of doodled on a piece of paper next to me, but he was interested in reading the calming strategies and he listened and chimed in. I’d take it as starting with exposure and hoping that even if he thinks its boring, he’ll start at least thinking about the tools.
Tonight’s gold star parenting moment was dredging up knowledge from ten years ago to instrument tie suture a fluffy stuffed animal’s arm closed with sewing thread and an eyebrow tweezer so that Giant Floppy is ready for Easter morning.
Proud owner of one pair of eclipse glasses thanks to Jeni’s. The baby enjoyed the ice cream
Everything is supposed to be child led and based in relationship building right?
Well, Meowlet loves these mother ducking emergency alert system alarms so we have them on our actual driving playlists. And then we discovered techno remixes of the alarms which was honestly a blessing because Jesus Christ who wants to listen to alarms?? An alarm fade into music was perfect. The album art also had flags.
Cue a transition and expansion into learning about flags, tying that into countries (and already having a love of languages). The interactive globe we got him is also in play now. He’s continuing to learn writing by writing out country names. His music classes suddenly have more significance. You see the waterfall.
But that’s not why I get a gold star.
I found the email of the random anime avatar masked internet denizen who makes these alarm remixes and sent them a note. They replied back and now we have all the downloadable files for these songs (we are for sure gonna pay this girl for them) and also she is taking a request for Meowlets favorite alarm (China’s of course. for real tho it’s gonna be a sick drop he’s got good taste).
The Internet is full of kind souls.
Ooh is there somewhere I can listen to these? Alarms into sick EDM drops would likely please my family as well
I’m happy this exists but also happy to never listen to it.
Bless you for being able to tolerate these. I love my son but there is no way. I think you get gold stars for parenting and for reaching out to the artist!
In case you guys ever need some alarm remixes
Wow I didn’t know the Australian one. I guess I just die in an emergency. I guess I don’t know when I’d expect to hear it? I work at major hazard facilities and they have their own alarm systems though.
Is this a thing for radio or tv?
Meowlet might enjoy the icons they’re implementing. Three levels, different disasters. Fun designs.
Edit:
Seems to be this:

Probably a good thing I’ve never heard it.
Art is good. People can be so good!
We are finally at Outside Walking level and the amount of shoes I bought this week is something! Most are too big for my tiny boy. No surprise as my shoe size is 5.5/6. At least they’re too big and not too small!
We had a rainy day yesterday and I actually did one of the extra ideas from the Lovevery parent guide. I made tunnels for the cuckoo’s play cars using construction paper and masking tape!
Oooh im gonna do that this week. Brilliant.
