Little novelty figurines/tchotchkeys from that one niche hobby/show they like.

My dad loved the ā€œsmart mugā€ I got him a few years ago to keep his coffee/tea the right temp. I think it was an ember.

A favorite show/movie dvd especially if they have a comfort show or movie they’ve streamed one million times.

If practical signed copies of a favorite book/cd or new release from a fav author/artist

  • if they cook or grill, a thermoworks instant read thermometer or oven/smoking probe is generally popular unless they’re a super grouchy sort.
  • Other kitchen tools (nice silicone spatulas, good oven or grill mits, etc)
  • Coffee scale or other coffee related subscription or gift card

I asked my husband what he wants and it ended up being shockz headphones and a specific swiss army knife type thing (a leatherman). So other men may want similar things :woman_shrugging:

This is my husband’s list:

  1. Pancake Flipper. - Dollar store one that’s super skinny and can get under the pancakes without squishing the edges.
  2. New Squirrel-proof birdfeeder -
  3. Bag of sunflower seed
  4. Hot tub drink holder
  5. (Used) kettles for wood stoves. Brass, copper, or cast iron. No whistles.
  6. USB Tractor seat warmer - NOT 12V - There is nowhere to plug in. It needs a built-in battery pack.

I also bought him this, because we have towels and swimsuits everywhere now:

This thread has made me realize I have no more men. I have a brother I don’t really see anymore. My son is male but he’s 15.

Interesting.

I’m getting my dad a birdfeeder with a camera. I’m hoping receiving adorable bird photos to his phone will incentivize him to remember that the phone exists occasionally

Birdfeeder with camera was just requested by a man I know. You know things!

Others

  • specific model of ceramic yeti cups that fit under the espresso machine
  • vintage theme hat of iconic [city] store sign with same name as brother
  • tech pouch (peak design)

For a man who likes to cook, ideas I’ve had:
Fancy beans
A manly apron
A homemade blanket to keep your bread warm

For more peripheral dudes, I have also had good luck with beef jerky.

Last year my father noticed my Thermapen when they visited and commented on how nicely it worked and how his old dial one was so slow, so guess what he got for his birthday?

Excellent job gift hinting that time, even if he didn’t even intend it as a hint!

Also, can confirm, they are awesome.

I’ve also found that how girls like gel pens middle aged men like fountain pens and ink.

I am a man aged 18-100!

I don’t really want or need anything. Maybe a nice 6-pack of beer? Don’t spend too much on me for a present though, I’ll feel bad you wasted your money.

Yeti products go pretty good. I’ve been gifted one of the no spill ones. I want a ceramic no spill one but they don’t make it.

I wouldn’t be mad with this. Can be a fairly personalised area - some like all the gadgets some just want a good blade and a few other things.

For regular stuff my father usually suggests fluffy slippers (this year Amazon.com | Zigzagger Men's Slip On Moccasin Slippers, Indoor/Outdoor Warm Fuzzy Comfy House Shoes, Fluffy Wide Loafer Slippers,Coffee, 9-10 D(M) US | Slippers, but there have been others in the past), and golf shirts frequently make the list for both he and my brother-in-law. Otherwise there have been a few one-off type things ex. an updated kindle, camping gear (sibling and I went in on a new tent, but also things like a better cooler and a new pump for the air mattress). Fishing gear comes up on occasion, but that he’s particular enough about (and I have little enough knowledge about) that I arrange to buy the license for the year and then he can go pick out whatever lures/bait/line/etc. that he wants.

A magslider ceramic lined stackable one is just no good once you’ve tried spillproof?

I have a magslider one as well. It’s good but you still have to be wary of it. Like keep it upright? Or in the car drink holder. The other type I can put in my bag.

I want the ceramic lining though.

My dad wears leather moccasins for slippers. They are great but also last forever so I can only use this gift idea about once every 15 years.
