I like the Cup of Joe recs for dads, brothers and husbands/boyfriends. You can search previous years as well:

You are so good at finding things on the internet!

Past brother gifts
A santuko knife
Very expensive olive oil (like full gift budget on a tiny bottle of oil)
A video game emulator

food gifts: hot sauce, fancy olive oil, bitters, vermouth, whisky, chocolate, coffee

LL Bean: flannels, cozy sweatpants or pajama pants, slippers

REI: base layers, trekking poles, Darn Tough socks

cookbooks (my brother especially)

@ElleP based on some of what you’ve said, Analogue Pocket might also be an idea? unless that’s already the emulator you bought lol

Various fun video game controller things - I especially like 8bitdo’s mega lightweight option

Nerd keyboard things: if they aren’t into keyboards yet but might want to be (beware: danger), switch testers are a nice size of gift (basically a clicky clacky fidget toy)

I get my father a physical subscription to The Atlantic every year for the past few years. I know he reads it (he talks about articles sometimes) and I ask him every year if he really likes it and he says yes. So my recommendation is a subscription (preferably physical or at least one that has digital included but physical is the important part imo because then they are actually receiving something and I also think physical media is important) to a magazine they enjoy or on a topic they enjoy.

Also, consumables, especially food. My father likes nuts. Nuts.com has pre-made gift packs like sampler packs, but you can also just buy what you want and assemble yourself.

Eta: you can switch up the subs, one year I gave him Scientific American, but he liked that one less so now I stick with the one I know he likes. I might try something different in the future.

If they like books you can do book sub boxes. I might try that for my mother because she’s a reader, like maybe a 3 month sub. My local bookstore has one that you can choose the genre and they will ship, and I also really want to support local bookstores, and authors.

Oh that’s me!

Generic things I tend to always be happy to get more of:

  • cool / powerful flashlights
  • multi-tools / pocket knives
  • LEGO sets however small
  • nice writing pens

Hope this helps a tiny bit…

Agree also on…

  • bourbon, chocolate (legit dairy-free dark in my case), coffee
  • socks (love big thick warm socks in the winter, love small cotton socks in summer)

Adult men. The most annoying demographic to gift for.

Things my dad has requested in the past:
-a very specific sponge from Eddie Bauer for wiping condensation off his truck mirrors
-a very specific wallet from Eddie Bauer (the velcro kind)
-woodworking clamps (“I always need more money and more clamps”)

My husband likes Darn Tough socks. He also likes these very heavy duty clothespins–I don’t have a link on me but if you search for that it might be fruitful. We use them as their intended purpose but also for closing chip bags, etc.

Haflinger slippers. If you don’t trash them they usually last about 2 years with heavy indoor use.

I’ve been browsing this site a bit. In case your dad isn’t an Atlantic dad?? Honestly some of these would be great for your Cool BFF instead, if we’re talking archetypes

Gift for anyone: good quality, high wattage plugs and cords for charging electronics.

I recently splashed out on a 130w rated plug so I can rapid charge my computer and phone and tablet from one plug all at the same time.

Cables with a right angle bend so you can use the phone/ tablet while it’s charging. 60w or higher.

It’s so nice to have electronics that just work with no fuss, and good charging is a fundamental part of that.

I thought I was weird coming here with socks suggestions but my husband is partial to smartwool socks.

My sock suggestion is hiking socks from greatsox/jb fields. But all the persons I sock buy for have a current favourite sock.

Oh! If the person likes a specific conference tee check inside for the label - Michaels sells the blanks for several brands
