wonder how sweden managed that
Committment to gender equality and a strong social safety net?
Letās go with that.
These past couple of weeks Iāve been reading books about Mary Queen of Scots/Elizabeth 1/Catherine dāMedici, and Elizabeth the Winter Queen (granddaughter of Mary Queen of Scots, sister of Charles 1). I now have many more opinions about the monarchy than I ever have before.
Also, I hadnāt realized how little they would have needed to fictionalize Reign to keep it interesting for modern audiences. If anything they probably had to tone things down because we couldnāt suspend disbelief. (I did not watch Reign, I just know that Megan Follows got to play Catherine)
Swedens military history is actually super super interesting!
Sweden showed up in the Winter Queen book. Also I got a bit of that when visiting Helsinki (obviously a complex topic). There is just so much history!
What books?
When Women Ruled the World: Making the Renaissance in Europe
Daughters of the Winter Queen: Four Remarkable Sisters, the Crown of Bohemia, and the Enduring Legacy of Mary, Queen of Scots
The Rival Queens: Catherine deā Medici, Her Daughter Marguerite de Valois, and the Betrayal that Ignited a Kingdom
the author of the first book and the author of the 2nd and 3rd books have very different opinions of Mary and Catherine. Fascinating to read them in such close succession - just random chance.
Mandatory reading. 1000% peak literature. I cannot do justice to the experience of reading this but it will Change You.
That is incredible and makes me very very happy.
oh my GOD that is epic
I live near Denver so that means I can meet these legends right
and now I want to just walk around and yell ālivestock lesbians assemble!!!ā
Tumblr demands I sign in. Rude.
Iāve never had a tumblr account and it let me read on my phone.
Maybe incognito mode?
Right?? I had no idea there were so many livestock subtypes of lesbians.
OMG thus is glorious
Oh yeah. I did, in fact, already know there are at least that many kinds of Livestock Lesbians, and this is still the funniest thing I ever read.

THANK YOU.
I think you have to join some quilting groups.
