I think I saw one cherry phlox blooming when I went home for lunch. I have lots of perennial phlox but it’s my first year for the annual kind.

i am loving them! there’s so much variation between stems and they seem to go with everything.

The bells are weird and wonderful agreed. I tried that once and they didn’t work well at all so yours look like they came from the florist.

In our city garden, I didn’t grow a whole lot beyond Lilies and Iris, some daylilies, some hostas because I had such limited room and I had to grow a lot of Lilies and Iris.

So here with one acre I’m enjoying contemplating all the things I could grow and trying things like bells of Ireland that I didn’t have good luck with decades ago.

Has anyone tried the short cleome annual? I first saw it in commercial beds in 2019 but I have a followed up on it. Here it is in a garden center I frequent, but I didn’t want to buy it yet. I wonder if they re-seed themselves like the big Cleomes.

Is that Celway Celosia from Johnnys? It looks smaller/more delicate than the regular kind, is that true? Mine did not make it this year so I bought starts of the standard kind just to have some but I don’t like it as well.

i think it’s the shimmer variety from johnnys. i grew a couple of coral brain ones too :joy: but it’s mostly shimmer. i planted them too early and they really suffered in the cold/wet may so i cut them back pretty hard knowing we have several days of hot dry weather coming up and they love that — hoping they thrive!
