This is the perennial one. I didn’t know there was an annual version!

There is spring-blooming phlox that is lower-growing (moss phlox, woodland phlox, creeping phlox) and then there is tall phlox that blooms in the summer. Turtlegirl’s are the tall phlox (also called garden phlox, Phlox paniculata). There are many cultivars in a variety of colors. I think the dark pink flowers in the photo are also phlox.

neat! thanks for sharing that with me – i’ve seen a lot of the spring-blooming kind but not the others. so many nice flowers to learn about!

That’s lilies at the bottom, right?

Just a heads up that they’re extremely toxic to cats – like, cats have died from rubbing against them, getting pollen on their fur, and then cleaning themselves.

It’s an extremely beautiful bouquet, just maybe not so good for your even-beautifuler kitty. :frowning:

They are lilies. She has never had any interest in flowers whatsoever, I am lucky for that! I have had them in the house since I have had her. But… just in case she should ever rub against one, should I cut off the pollen thing? Is that the stamen?

Pretty! I love the porch with the hanging baskets.

I have no idea how to cat-proof them! We just don’t have lilies around, because my trust level with my cats is “no” (although none of my cats have ever really been plant chewers either).

Are you in the Pacific Northwest? I ask because Imdont recognize that iris, it might be one of the ones that grow native in the PNW.
We don’t grow those here.

No. Virginia.

I know mushrooms aren’t flowers, but this seemed the best spot

And a ghost pipe - maybe a flower?

Mushrooms are sorta flowery! I mean, they’re the fruiting body of the mushroom at least…

Ghost pipes are so pretty.

(still internally screaming about them but trying to be casual)

Are they all from seed or plants? I’ve never done seed before.
