Did Gran needlepoint / embroider that pillow?
I think unlikely. if it were the other side it could have been my great grandfatherās work.
Got rid of a sunlamp we really did not like via BN ā success!
Going through this box, I discovered I didnāt RSVP to my oldest sisterās wedding. July 1993.
That means I should mail the invitation and rsvp now with my apologies for the delay, right? (Or do I just put it into the recycling?)
Absolutely do this, assuming sheās not divorced and she has a good sense of humor it would tickle my pink to get an RSVP card back out of the blue.
We have decluttered and organised juuust enough that it was easy to tidy for the cleaners this morning AND I was really happy with how we left the house! Like, yes its clearly a semi-hoarder/ poor executive function people living there, BUT cleaners can get in and keep it hygienic.
Whats left:
There are giant piles of boxes in hallway and study and the laundry bench was covered in stuff I need to deal with
More free pile magic. I kept refilling this as things got whisked away, so probably 5 times this amount got gone over the weekend. The janky hamper has been a thorn in my side and nobody ever wants it on BN, but two days in the sidewalk finally did it.
And someone on buy nothing took this chair! The basement is feeling so much more open.
The amount of āwalk shit from point A to point Bā I do in a given day is absurd. And really, it just comes down to the fact that I have a toddler and thatās just how toddlers Do. But god it gets exhausting some days.
I think that was most of my exercise for about a decade. LOL
Yes I try to run the stairs each time and tell myself itās an important part of my lifelong health
Slowly getting rid of all the baby stuff that has somehow hung on.
Got rid of the travel carseat, the large stroller, all remaining crib linens, the baby swing.
I have a dart board and a vintage film camera with a ton of lenses and filters and a lovely leather case I want to take to the consignment store. My photographer husband tells me the lenses are not worth anything, because they are just too out of date, but Iām not convinced a collector wonāt want them. Is it worth it to list on ebay? Iām just nervous of being out the expensive price of shipping if someone scams me on them. They are heavy!
Today I gave away the Texas flag shower curtain my husband was given on his 23rd birthday (when we lived in Ohio, btw). It has never been used (because seriously- he was a married man, not living in Texas, there was zero chance a Texas flag shower curtain was going up.) But for some reason we have had it in the linen closet for nearly 20 years.
Also gave away 3 pairs of toddler flip flops that the hotel we stayed at in Portugal gave us. The woman I gave them to is making a wreath. I thought about doing that, but I have no energy for it, so Iām glad she is.
Thought this was a sweet perspective!

ā This made me realize maybe I didnāt actually like the things I owned because I didnāt get that same glow of pride while cleaning them. Many of them were hand-me-downs, and others were simple decor items I impulsively bought from Target or Amazon from time to timeā
Oh boy it me, lol. This is a good perspective.
Itās me toooooooo!! I have these horrid hand me down lamps that are just awful to dust.
I only have a handful but i know the ones in my house they meanā¦
I think a big emotional barrier to getting rid of old electronics is sentimentality about their contents (first text messages with now-DH!) And worry Iāll lose some data on them that isnt saved anywhere else and will one day need/ would be nice for the great great grandkids to read.
Yes this sounds unreasonable but also they found the secret to Roman cement was seawater because theyād only written āwaterā on the recipe, sooooo clearly Iām not unreasonable to hoard every bit of information ever.
Breathe ok I am collecting the old electronics now. Phones first.
oh, good. because it has bugged me for so long after I was told by some tv show as a kid that it had been lost.
I have a plastic container for embroidery floss with a bunch of those cardboard bobbins. It feels wrong to throw it out, and Iām not sure where to post such a cheap specialist thing. I guess to just put on fb and see if anyone bites.
This should be sooo much more functional. The big one is hard to get in and out, collapses if something damp is on the side, etc. And since this is downstairs (laundry is up), air holes will be good for lightly damp everything that ends up in there. thank you ikea.
So I have the urge to get rid of a lot of my work clothes. Since I donāt have to go to the office I donāt need all the pants and skirts. They are still good, but I have had a lot of it for 8-10 plus years so they have paid their dues. I have my eye on some lulu pants I would like to get because they were super comfortable and flattering. I also cleaned out some tank tops and shorts, and some capris I no longer wear because I got new ones that are more comfortable.
Tonight I tossed an old pair of sneakers, cracked a new pair out to be my new indoor shoes. We are going to an engagement party tomorrow afternoon and I have a tortoga rum cake and bottle of wine for the host, and for the happy couple a bottle of wine and tequila to contribute to decluttering. Repurposed some fancy gift bags and a wine bag. Itās not much but itās getting it out of the house.
