I listed a batch of small random stuff on BN, and everything was requested! Also a broken wicker hamper that keeps snagging clothes - I finally got fed up and asked htbf if it could go. Someone wants it for their hamsters.
I posted more stuff on BNP this afternoon. I am on a roll!
Decluttering with a tiny hoarder tomorrow. Iām hoping giving clear containers and doing a whole category at once will help. Might need favourite snacks? Any other ideas for a 4yo who wants to keep every scrap heās cut and drawn on? Weāre going through the craft category.
finished one of the sample shampoos and more of the sample moisturizers. the bathroom basket of incidentals is slowly being whittled down!
I bought some shoes on Poshmark months ago, and they didnāt fit right. They finally sold again, and theyāre out of my house.
Take pictures to remember the scraps by?
Focus on keeping favorites? Make a couple āframesā he can fill with his prize pieces, and/or a binder or folder. Have him focus on the KEEP and not the let go?
Excellent ideas. I will talk up how weāll pick pieces for the fridge and display area, so everyone can see his work.
I have decluttered all of my sewing patterns I compulsively collected because Joannās always had really good sales and I was bored AF in my hometown that summer. I offered them on BN awhile back and they got almost no interest. I listed them on eBay and they have now all sold, averaging $1.50
profit on each which isnāt necessarily worth my time, but they are actually moving along to serve a purpose in the world again so Iām happy.
I listed some middle onion layers on BN. Not the easy to gift stuff, like clothing I never wear, but the somewhat harder decisions. Things that I could use. I donāt really, but I could. Like a small shelf. I have never gotten around to affixing it to the wall properly, so every few days a kitten who shall not be named knocks it down.
And a decorative thing that I really like, but donāt need and donāt have a great place for.
Got rid of another curtain today. Might go through a box of shoes today.
Continually putting things on BN and throwing out things where I go āis it necessary or is it garbageā. Wheee.
Pulled the Danish bench out from in front of the kitchen storage. Put it and other things which needed it into the attic. Yay!
Part of this was a I dug out an old book about birds and flipped through it to see if it was complete? No. I cut the rest of the color plates out, discarded the book and will send them to the family member who is bird-crazy. If I still have it, Iāll send it with the busted open set of plates of NY birds, although Iām pretty sure I donated that already?
Iām committed to emptying my dresser so we can use it for our babyās clothing. My clothing etc is spilling everywhere but Ponder has promised to help me pile it up and go through it.
I reorganized all of my clothing drawers! I should have posted a before but I didnāt think about it, I did take a photo mid organization though.
The glorious after, I also rearranged how I store things together. I used to do things more in sets (like workout top plus workout bottom) but now I have it more by type (workout tops with other workout tops, workout bottoms with other workout bottoms) so weāll see how that goes:
Underwear ^
Stockings and socks ^
Lingerie ^ (decided to hang some of the larger things that are more like full outfits that were in this drawer before, I think that helped a lot!)
Loungewear bottoms ^
Loungewear tops ^
Pajamas and bonnets ^
Fitness tops and bottoms ^ (I was surprised these all fit in one drawer! I think separating out lounge items from actual fitness stuff was a good idea)
Cleaned out about half the books from my bookshelf and donated to local mini communuty library
Then rearranged books into oneās I have not read and then books Iāve read and couldnāt part with.
Hopefully this means I will also start to read some of the books that I have had for ages
Mum came over and noticed my Box Mountain. Grandma just got moved to a nursing home and they need boxes for her stuff to be donated, so Box Mountain has been taken away to be useful.
I also threw out 1 pair of shoes that had fallen apart.
Question for you all. Do any of you live in households that have different definitions of what is comfortable to keep In a cupboard? That is, what is too full vs. what is taking advantage of the space? How did you work through it without anyone saying they will build an ADU in the backyard and live there? Asking for a friend!
youāre hilarious and yes. My husband has a much higher neatness/cleanliness standard than I do, and I feel like mine is already higher than average. He used to randomly rearrange my pantry to be āhelpfulā and yeah, that stopped pretty quickly. You donāt want to piss off the cook, lol.
We basically have separate closets that we each manage. I have the pantry and my clothes closet (plus kitchen cabinets, fridge, freezer), he has his clothes closet, the utility closet (which we store a ton of cleaning stuff in as well as our napkins and towels), and the second bedroom closet (where we store off season clothes, christmas stuff, etc.). So obviously a lot of my things are in āhisā closets, but itās all on him to manage the space. His closets are filled with totally uniform bins that are labeled. I thought it was absurd to spend a ton of money on matching bins but girl, omg he was so happy. He still talks about his bins, lmao, so whatever.
I put things where he wants in the utility closet even though we both use it and if I need something from storage I ask and he gets it for me. In return, I have full reign of the kitchen cabinets and pantry and he isnāt allowed to make suggestions on those spaces or my closet. If we had fewer closets in this apartment I guess weād just get a divorce. Totally kidding, lol, just saying I realize we are blessed in closet space.
I LOLed! I love the idea of deciding who is responsible for each closet/cabinet, and that you each get to organize your way.
Have you run into a situation where, say, he wants to get something big that would take up space in one of the cabinets you manage? Our issue is that my wife wants to keep getting more big stuff (fine!) but wonāt part with anything we have, and her idea of āusing space efficientlyā is my āliving like pack rats.ā
