2 phone cases that came with the shadowy one’s hand me down phone last year?a couple of years? ago. will keep the leather wallet one for now.
AND we have agreement to review and consolidate things in that chest.

After 2 weeks of keeping this kids easel on my front porch waiting for a BN pickup, I asked the person if they would be ok with me dropping off. They said yes and don’t live far. I get an excuse to get out of the house and get my porch back.
I went through ALL of the outgrown baby stuff. (We’re storing it all by size in the garage in the hopes of having another kid). Most was stuff I got as hand me downs and more than I’d like to admit was too worn to be worth keeping, tbh. So I was a little more ruthless on this pass through, and consolidated a higher number of small bins down to a lower number of consistent large bins. That’ll improve how easy they are to store and reduce the “ahhhh 10 boxes” overwhelm feeling. I didn’t feel up for doing maternity stuff (infertility will do that to ya) but at least I made big progress with the baby stuff! Now I have a huge pile of stuff to deal with getting rid of though, sigh.
I’m trying to make it a daily goal to find an item or two to donate. I will keep track here;
Donation bag contents-
I hope to find a few more things today. Also I’m going to try to tackle one small space a week. This week I’m working on my nightstand.
I was thinking about using the marble cake mix packet in banana sour cream muffins this weekend, and then I thought about the fact that the packet moved with us to this house in 2006, the contents are probably rancid and would ruin the muffins.
So I threw it out. Yes, it was technically wasting food, and I hate food waste, but a high probability of wasting a full batch of muffins would be even worse.
I console myself on this stuff with “it was already wasted, I just changed its location”. And try to do better next time.
I have a twitchy tummy. One thing that sets it off is too tight pants. One of the 2 pairs of matching, bought new PJ pants I have is too tight, it’s going to the swap shop next time we go. I have 3 other sets of flannel PJ pants…
One of my pairs of long johns is also too tight, but with DH’s help I will stretch it out or if necessary unpick the seam. I don’t have enough warm clothes.
I have the usual “When I lose weight I’ll wear this again” pieces, which I should get rid of, but can’t yet. However, these are things I use and I don’t need them to make my health worse at the same time.
Related: we have a stick mixer that vibrates too much for me to use it, and also happened to come with a mini food processor attachment. My sister is going to take it for her new sharehouse. I’m making a pile of items for her to go through before I offer then elsewhere, too.
I gave back the wrapping (gift bags or tin) the Christmas goodies from the neighbors came in. The giving back is a win, but I’m prouder that I thought of it!
Also, somewhere here, I can’t find it, people were wondering about disposing of sharps. I found this at earth911.com, don’t know if there’s anything new here or not, sorry.
I spend about 15 decluttering my bathroom vanity and threw out a good amount of lotions and potions I’ll never use.
I sorted through a huge bunch of clothes and household items I need to get out of the house – some had interested people on BN from an earlier post, before I had eye surgery. So got those mostly coordinated to give away this weekend. The rest are now in boxes and we will donate to a thrift store that supports various local animal shelters.
Also decluttered most of my bedroom, where mess had been piling up since my last big purge shortly after Thanksgiving. Have decided I like having my spare set of sheets out where I can easily change them (I have gotten in the habit of changing sheets 2x/week because I like how the clean ones feel) but I am going to look for a basket to put them in so that they don’t just look sloppy on top of the cedar chest. Aiming to keep the rest of the top of the cedar chest mostly clear – should put stuff that accumulates there away at least once a week.
I am also working on eating down random stuff in the fridge, freezer and pantry. I made Caldo Verde soup with kale from the garden, some chicken stock I had made last week from a Costco chicken, and Chinese sausage SO bought ages ago that nobody liked much. Today I will finally make a big batch of granola with oats I bought several weeks ago and maple syrup I have been saving after the kids pancake breakfasts (there is always a bit left in the bowl and I don’t want to pour it back in the container). I’ll probably also make some zucchini bread and that feta/tomato pasta recipe Frecks posted about awhile back.
Gave away a large, theoretically functional picture frame. I got it from BN… two BN groups ago. Never used it. Now I never will. Wheee.
Got rid of all my expired jars of things I would probably never even eat if I felt safe eating them, including way too many meal replacement powders and protein powders.
Does your food storage area feel spacious now?
Mostly! I still feel I have a bit too much stuff but that will be slowly amended by eating the duplicates.
Posted cranberries and a cat toy on buy nothing. Sent email offering a floor lamp, gas heater, coat rack to someone.
I have a car tyre and rim to get rid of. How?
Waiting for someone from buy nothing to make a big pick up of all our duplicate kitchen stuff after combining households.
I’ve been saving it in the attic thinking I could give it to a family member once they move out… but that would require shipping and just not be worth it… or ever actually happen… so decided to let everything go.
getting rid of the crock pot too! Used it maybe 5 times in 5 years and never for anything I couldn’t have just cooked on the stove. So much more cabinet space
This is my first time participating on BN… it’s cool so far but I’m annoyed how ten people comment on wanting within 2 minutes of posting but once you start messaging to coordinate, spotty response! (I’m also incredibly impatient, I want to get things all figured out RIGHT NOW once I get in the headspace, so I know I play a role there and need to give a little patience lol)
Work friend is moving out of his parents and into an apartment (divorce situation). Since he is starting from scratch, I offered him stuff that will just be going to the dump until he gets new stuff he wants. He will be taking 3 of my old dining room chairs, my futon, and maybe another chair with storage in the seat. Very happy to see this go in the next few weeks!
Consolidated seasonal decorations into two boxes instead of three. Halloween/Fall has one box, and Hanukkah/Christmas/Winter has another. Also went through my box of craft supplies I probably use once a year but think it’s worth keeping because it’s not like colored pencils or construction paper go bad? But I had a bunch of craft books in there I can put in the FLL. Including an origami book with some paper tucked inside! Hope that makes someone else very happy
I replied to the things I put on buy nothing and sent messages with pickup details to 4 people. Next they actually reply to me…
… Now I have to check in with Ponder on 2 items to make sure it is OK to pass them on, and to find out where the screws for a third went…
