Extra decluttering- SO found the extra unused new remotes and receivers we had in the basement for the ceiling fans to go to the new owner. We need to take down one of the brackets which is still up and we don’t know where one is.
I have started 2 boxes for family history stuff for 2 separate cousins. Better to keep it organized to send it all out at once instead of little packets.
Not sure if I mentioned it here or in my journal but I gave a friend a bunch of kids birthday cards and thank you cards that I will never use.
I should probably photograph and post another light tomorrow, and prioritize someone who will pick up sooner/not Thursday (as I don’t want to have multiple things up on the porch and hope nobody picks up something that isn’t meant for them)
floor lamp was picked up yesterday evening, and I’ve posted the next thing. I was going to do another light, but decided that a garden thing would be easier to rehome in August than later in the season, so that is done.
The shadowy one pointed out that we should probably also look at relisting the storage bins before university students start packing.
I finally threw out the mostly full bag of sad wrinkled soft potatoes. I am not living a 10lb bag of potato life right now. My onions are ok except 2 have sprouted.
garden thing was much less popular than a floor lamp. someone was supposed to get it yesterday but they flaked and then this morning asked more questions about the condition. I told them it was free, and they could take it or not, but we weren’t going to set up a hose to do the test. I should have taken his low rating to heart and not engaged at all. Do I give a bad rating? or not bother, because he has my address and even a low chance of retaliation is not worth it. he already has a bad rating & I should have trusted my gut when I didn’t like his tone in the early messages.
a second person has said they’ll pick it up tonight. fingers crossed. and then I’ll post the light. I’m having that thing where I like it better now that I’ve cleaned it up for photos (like when your hair is better right before the hairdresser appointment), but the shadowy one doesn’t like the idea of the only other place it would fit, so it’s better to rehome.
An old krewemate offered me some craft supplies. I said yes because it’s things I actually use and have a need for right now. She gave me those things AND an entire HUGE bag of other stuff I didn’t ask for. And my head exploded! I need LESS stuff, not more!
But! I went through the ENTIRE bag today, weeded out what I do not need which was a lot, let some friends dig thru it (they took some things), and the rest is getting donated! It wasn’t that long ago that I would’ve kept it all out of guilt and then it would sit in my room stressing me out.

contractor said he will take away the leftover grout compound this week. the extra paint might wait a few more weeks until the painter is back from visiting family in Ecuador.
we can’t post the fan until we find the remote control, so I guess next is the bins. A person last year gave me a digital photo frame thing - should I check with her before listing it, or just do it? I worry she might ask to see it if she ever visited
K this probably sounds like a silly declutter, but I’m trying to use up all the coin money in the house. I managed to make some rolls but of course have loose change.
I took a handful today to buy an onion at the local market instead of going to the grocery store.
Brilliant! This inspired me to actually look up where the nearest coin cash machine was. I’ll be swinging by there on the weekend and freeing up a big jar of mostly pennies and dimes.
My decluttering victory was throwing out 2 bags of rolls that have been in my freezer taking up an entire shelf for months. I am not going to eat these. If I want bread, I will be buying myself new bread. I will not be craving the probably freezer burnt old rolls.
Sometimes you can feed coins into a self check machine before you run your card but not everywhere accepts them at self check (and it’s slow, so probably not worth it for a pile of pennies). Good job using some up!
no showed and blocked me. for a free item. ffs. and apparently not enough conversation (probably deliberately) to let me give him a rating. Seems I can report for the no-show to the platform, so I’ve done that, but of course the platforms are so crap at moderation.
Might the car oil saga actually be nearly over?! For 5 years we’ve had used oil from an oil change sitting in our garage. My husband decided, for various reasons, that he’s not changing our oil anymore (fine) but getting rid of this has been hard. Loooong story on previous failed attempts, but in short; it can go out with the recycling but only if it’s in semi transparent gallon size bottles, like milk jugs (but not the Costco kind, they’re too cloudy colored). We don’t drink milk, and I don’t want to waste 3 gallons of milk. Both auto supply shops near us have had their oil collection tanks “too full and need picked up” for over 2 years now. Anyway, after 1 failed attempt getting jugs from a friend (they were Costco ones) we now have the oil in gallon size standard milk jugs from another friend. Recycling comes again in 2 weeks. We will see!
I understand why there are rules for safe recycling of chemical-like things but it can be so fucking annoying to comply!
Here we have a household hazardous waste collection Once. A. Year. For all the stuff that you’re not supposed to throw in the trash. It is in April, so we took a load then. I go thru a lot of spray paint. You see where this is going. Where in fuck are all these empties supposed to live until next April? We do not have a garage or shed. Argh!
Is there not an option to take them to the dump and be placed in proper recycling areas? At our dump you can go at anytime for a small fee ($5) and drop all sorts of things off. We constantly make runs when our staring containers get full.
