I unpacked the last two boxes that were in my house from moving almost a year ago. They were both labeled “decor.” I don’t know if it counts as decluttering since I didn’t decide to get rid of any of it. I’ve been distributing it instead. Hang stuff on walls? What a nice idea. I also unpacked a box from the garage labeled “wedding china.” That one must have been packed for many, many years and just moved around. I decided to just start using the stuff, it’s not doing anyone an good in a box in the garage and the marriage ended anyway. It’s not a full set, just some dinner plates and bread plates and a few teacups and saucers. If it all gets ruined from daily use, I really don’t care. I put it all in the dishwasher.

I threw away 4-5 pairs of shoes no one will want. They are past the point where anyone would buy them second hand. But so hard when they still have good life

I took 2 beers and a cider which had been languishing in my fridge for 2.5 years to a golf tournament today.
3 more things out of the house and extra room in my fridge.

I went through all of Son’s clothes with him (he hated every moment of it!) and pulled out everything he either no longer wants or no longer fits.
I also did the same with my clothes, mostly. (No son involvement.) I say mostly because damn, I have a lot of clothes. I at least pulled out anything that no longer fits. Apparently, like my teen, I’m still a growing girl? Sigh. 
It’s all still in the house, though. Bagged up and ready to go but not out. One step at a time.

Just picked up 3 boxes of old notebooks and art from my mom’s house-- some of of these notebooks are 1/3 full, with some interesting little doodles or old nostaligic art… and then 2/3 empty. Any advice on how to handle these? Should I just rip out the interesting pages, scrap the rest of the uninteresting notes, and then use the notebooks again? I don’t want to waste this much paper…

Yup - that’s what I would do. I like to have lists and jot down things in categories like Christmas gift ideas, house projects, movie/tv show recommendations, etc. I don’t use a planner so use random notebook paper. I’m just using up the last of the CMTO mini-notebook from 2023. It feels like a waste to not use it up and would hurt my frugal little heart.

I use notebooks willy nilly with no sense of overall theme. I have plenty of notebooks that started in grad school, then got used for some journaling, then I’m using them for scrap paper… it’s kind of fun to see how things changed over the years haha.

12 cardboard boxes being broken down for recycling and a large bag full of random packing foam, peanuts, bubble wrap etc is prepped for the next garbage pickup. There are more boxes in the basement set for being broken up next.

3 spice packets that keep getting pushed around in the cupboard found a new home in the trash tonight.
I also have a buyer coming for my old ceiling fans on Tuesday. $80 in my pocket instead of at the restore or landfill.

Went through another 2 magazines today and almost finished a third.
Went through the kids bathers with my mum and we got rid of anything that’s too small or worn.

New Orleans problems: I need to declutter my body glitter stash. I have a lot of dupes and almost all of them were free because a lot of people throw them. My zippered pouch of them is overflowing!
So I am going to work on that this week. Some are dried out, and that can be salvaged with aloe vera gel, but I am never going to use all of this and before I know it I’ll be catching more.

why is it that the first person one starts a conversation with goes silent, and then there are 5 or 6 very nice people who would pick up today? I miss freecycle.
