De-Boobaning (Top Surgery) And Other Gender Shiz

I think I’m missing something. I’m only seeing pictures of women in bras-- not any bare chests to actually view (which makes sense for the website, just wondering if I’m missing something).
As @HaH guessed, I am really jonzing for something properly androgynous. I found another pic that matches what I want. I’ll post it in a sec! (It’s on my phone so must find that first… haha)

Okay here’s the pic. This is actually (as far as I can tell) a cis man’s chest prior to his own reduction! But I like the “before” hahahah. Putting a NSFW filter on it as it still looks like boobs.

This is great!

I’d think the strength work you’ve been doing will help achieve that too as your pecs and lats get more developed.

I’m kinda disproportionately excited you have another image that more closely matches what you’re thinking of!

I can totally picture that chest on a masculine or feminine person!! Yay neutrality / duality / good shit!

Same! I have multiple friends of multiple genders with pretty much that chest, actually, and all of them look good with it and can make it look Very Masculine or Quite Feminine depending on how they adorn it and themselves.

Yay for being able to find good reference photos

good reference photos are so important for communicating your goals and reducing ambiguity/assumptions. I’m so glad you’ve been able to find a couple that you can use to help your eventual medical support team understand what you’re aiming for.

Meeting with the first surgeon I have a consult with in 48 hours.

Today’s “Things I Want” List:

  • To live life without a bra or a binder and not feel gross. I want that freedom so so so much. Today is a “no nope nope do not want” day.
  • To get this surgery in the “done” category so I can stop thinking about it. It’s taking so much emotional energy, although I already feel better having basically decided to go forward. I want to have already gotten it so I can just prance about and find and design new clothes and refuse to feel guilty because It’s Already Done.

PS who wants to play Over/Under guessing on out of pocket cost estimate that I’m provided during Thursday’s consult with Surgeon B?
I’m going to guess $11,300.

Anyone?

Current debate is when to warn/inform my workplace that I will be utilizing FLMA in order to have a procedure and recover from it.
Likely not until the surgery is scheduled. Just ruminating…

Yours will absolutely take longer recovery time than mine, but I waited until it was scheduled to notify HR. They wanted doc paperwork two weeks after submitting and my doc won’t be able to get to it until April, so they closed my case and are keeping the paperwork on file for when we get closer to the date.

I think they generally appreciate sooner rather than later, but I guess 2+ months is too soon for my workplace?

Yep, I waited until mine was scheduled too. Same for coworkers anticipating parental leave- the benefits department needs a firm date to work from.

A little over as the appointment is at 3PM tomorrow my time. But yes. :X
I’m nervous.

I want it to be a perfect match. I want to feel fully confident in him and his understanding of my wishes.
Because if I don’t feel it’s a good match, the next surgeon I have a consult with isn’t until the end of May.

Are you going to proceed if you feel this surgeon is a good fit or wait until you see your first choice in May to decide?

I don’t know. I’ll see how I feel.

I can’t move forward until I produce the “letter of readiness” that is required (regardless of insurance) anyhow, which needs to be created by a mental health professional. Which won’t be for at least another (3) weeks at a minimum. I don’t know how long my therapist will want to have me in her care before she produces that for me, and my first appointment with the therapist isn’t until the 4th of March.

Yay, I hope it goes well tomorrow!

Is there any chance that Partner can come wit you tomorrow? I’m dealing with my own tricky Dr. appointment tomorrow and (first the first time ever) I’ve asked spouse to come with me. I know that I’m emotionally exhausted and I have a long list of questions, with various treatment plans based on the answers but I think I need someone slightly more clearheaded in there in case I forget something. Also, I’m looking forward to being able to recount the visit with someone who was there since I’m sure there will be emotions and decisions to be made after the appointment.
