Running: two runs, as per normal
Walking: Double daily walkies, as per normal
Veg: Made list of veg on the fridge (fuck, why have I not done this before?) and am using up said veg decently so far
Knitting: Continues apace, but really wish I were magically faster
Books: Finished The Tomb of Atuan, got literally six others on the burner because I’m insane – focusing on Sense and Sensibility and English Villagers of the Thirteenth Century

I did not do a walk Saturday. I ran errands, grocery shopped, made dinner, and passed out at 9.

I did do yoga and laundry on Sun, which totally counts! 3-4+ trips to laundry room seem to get me over 10k steps and 10+ floors (26 this time), which is comparable to a good walk…and I’m carrying weights half the time .

Goal for the next 6 days (inclusive) is 3x An Exercise since Sunday basically applied to last week.

Here I am, late, but I thought of a thing. I need to drink more - I’d been drinking much less since the pandemic because I have kept a tea setup in my work office and here I have to walk to the kitchen. So (copied to my journal also):

Herbal tea of the day . I haven’t been drinking enough fluid of any sort, and over the weekend I installed the electric pourover kettle from my office at work in my home office. It was a pain making the space, and so I’d been putting it off. But having that right there at hand has made it much easier to get more tea (I generally use a big tea ball in the cup but re-steep several times from my homemade mixtures, and once when I use a commercial tea bag instead). I feel much better the last few days- because I’m better hydrated, I think. So.

Yesterday’s tea:

  • mint (from a wild native I have gotten to grow in pots - pretty sure this is Pycnanthemum incanum )
  • elderflower which I gathered in May/June (this will feature every day as it’s antiviral and I figure it can’t hurt given the pandemic)
  • dried chocolate nibs (purchased since chocolate won’t grow here)

I drank the entire pot -go me.

Today’s tea:

  • elderflower
  • blackberry leaf (gathered and dried in April/May)
  • stevia leaf (grown and dried actually a couple years ago now. I haven’t found a stevia start in the last couple years and it’s notoriously hard to grow from seed. I did try to root some cuttings from the plant I had, but without success. I overwintered it one year but it didn’t thrive the second year.)
  • hibiscus (bought from a bulk bin in Grad School City in the Before times - may try growing in the hoop house next year if I can find seeds)
  • Rosehips - I’m ashamed to say also paid money for these (same bulk bin trip). Roses are everywhere here, and all roses make hips, but most of the natives are tiny little hips that are a real pain to seed and dry. R. rugosa is the way to go for rosehip purposes, but it’s invasive so I won’t grow it. I’ll look for lingering rosehips on the persimmon-picking trip I have planned this weekend and report back.

Just noticed this. I think mine will be devoting more time to PT exercises (primarily stretching, foam rolling, and lacrosse ball “smashing”) because if we want to save more money I need to see if I can cut out (or down) my massage and chiro visits

As a tea obsessive, I love every single word of this post. Except the ones where you had been feeling dehydrated, that part sucks. All the other words! yesssssssss tea.

Finishing Pot #2 just now. I added more blackberry and stevia between pots, but I think I can still declare I’ve used it all up at this point.

week 2 check-in: I’m “ahead” of my 10 day goal of progressing on the programming course in Nov! Ideally this would be a daily (or weekdaily) habit, so the “10” was a minimum goal. Stretch goal is 20 days!

Stretching more seems to be helping!

Week 2 check-in:
It is good to see what I have done each day. There are patterns in what I did and how I feel.

I’ve been outside every day. This streak is probably helped by a run of very nice weather for November, and taking this week off from work. But I also think that without this challenge it wouldn’t have happened.

Week 2 check-in.
Since my last check in, I:

  1. Finished my marketing final. I don’t have a final grade in the class yet, but unless he curves down (he said he curves to a B, so he might), I think I got an A-.
  2. I missed 1 dose of medicine. And it was stupid, because I was lying in bed thinking “I need to get up and take my medicine” and I didn’t.
  3. I have created no new youtube content. But I think I only need one more this month to hit my goal, and I still have 1 more week scheduled, so I’m not behind yet.

:sparkles: Week 2! :sparkles:

There were a lot of IT snags getting set up at my job this week, but they’ve been figured out!

I’ve cleared out a shelf in my closet, and I’m being much more aggressive in determining what I give away. A lot of work still needs to be done. Chore sharing with brother needs to be adjusted for the new job time commitment.

I got my first paycheck this morning and used the ratios I worked out to adjust YNAB to fit it. In a week, I’ll get the full benefits orientation.

Week 2… I drank once. It was a pre-arranged thing I had forgotten about. But I still have regrets because I feel suboptimal today and there was really no need.

Week 2 check-in:
No alcohol :white_check_mark:
No purchased sugary foods :white_check_mark:
No caffeine after first cup :white_check_mark:

I haven’t had any sugary foods at all so that’s pleasing to me.

I’ve definitely noticed I feel worse with only a small amount of booze when I haven’t been drinking regularly!
