You can also go straight here: COVID Home Tests | USPS

It just seems like it should have been 4 per person, or you can order 4 per household per week or something.

I think of my coworkers and like you, many could not afford the out of pocket. But 4 tests will be gone in a single day, and some family members wonā€™t even get tested at all.

Weā€™ve had a few people out for covid, but our attendance has been surprisingly amazing- probably because they canā€™t afford to miss shifts. The executive level is more likely to work from home when they feel sick, but our floor workers canā€™t do that. Iā€™m sure people come in with mild covid.

Iā€™ve got 4 at home from Walmart, but ordered these because certainly somebody I know will need them even if I donā€™t.

Thatā€™s my thought process too. Weā€™ve been lucky to get a good supply of tests and keep them on hand. Iā€™ve handed them out to friends who needed them so this gives me the same opportunity.

I was pleasantly surprised that my company sent out the link for test ordering today, so I was able to order my householdā€™s right away.

Iā€™m also reassured, sometimes, by the graphs on the Maryland COVID website. The new cases graph shows this HUGE spike, starting to maybe recedeā€¦ but the deaths graph shows a spike just about the same size as previous spikes. Healthcare has made such amazing strides treating this disease.

One would think USPS would understand that some buildings are multi-unit and thus multi-household? Sigh. I was able to get mine ordered but I fear I may have screwed over my landlord who lives below me.

Yeah I mean this is landlords screwing over their residents by not giving them a separate address. Different apartments in one building are supposed to have different mailing addresses. If your landlord has told the post office/government that itā€™s a two unit building and you get mail to two different addresses then it should be fine.

Except that apparently the website is ignoring the Apt/Unit line when determining if something is a separate address?

Yes, I read after the fact that what I should have done is put the unit number on the same line as my address. Which I did not. Hence, fear that I screwed my landlord. Oh well, I guess we can split them with her if we have to. We still have 3 unused boxes of them that we scored before the huge rush.

Whoeverā€™s UI shouldā€™ve been able to accommodate that, itā€™s not like apartments are weird. Iā€™m sure some people are scrambling to fix that now and cursing themselves for not seeing it to begin with.

Supposedly Floridaā€™s cases are on the downward trend? A news article I saw earlier said hospitals should see relief in 10-14 days.

Looks like Minnesota is on the same trajectory. Maybe things will start looking a little less apocalyptic soon? I hope

I finally got my damned booster jab. (Why yes I got it in California because itā€™s easier to schedule here, why do you ask?!)

Yepppp, I was unable to order as Iā€™m in an apartment building. Tried all the workarounds people kept suggesting, too.

Iā€™m really not a fan of how government negligence keeps fucking over poor people. Not to say all renters are poor, but most people less than middle class donā€™t own a house.

oh shit! I used my apt # in the apt sectionā€¦ did I just screw over my entire buildingā€¦ AHHH

Iā€™m another apartment dweller who ordered yesterday before being aware of this issue. The website from which I ordered appeared to be the USPS website. It seems like they of any government agency should understand multi-family housing!

So mad on behalf of the many who are not being adequately served by this!

Ooof, yeah, I definitely also put in my apartment number the normal way, on the second line. It seemed to go through?

Aside from being too little too late, this seems REALLY short sighted in execution. Itā€™s like they have only conceived of ā€œhouseholdā€ as a single family home with two adults and two children.

I feel bad continuing to criticize Biden, because I want him to do well- but the plan to send masks is ridiculous.
They should let people request them; but right now the problem for most people is not access to N95 type masks; itā€™s the refusal to wear them.

So, sure, make them available to people who canā€™t afford/canā€™t access them, but just sending them to everyone is really wasteful. A lot of these will go directly into the trash with a big ā€œLetā€™s Go Brandonā€.

It IS also access to N95s to be clear. They are cost prohibitive to lots of people. Many jobs do not provide them to people who work with the public.
More masks is good.

Thatā€™s why I think they should be requestable. But sending them to everyone doesnā€™t make sense. You have a large portion who doesnā€™t want them, and a portion who already has them.
