Itā€™s so crazy to me there are places in the US doing this, when in many others covid doesnā€™t exist except for the people in the hospital and some masks (sometimes).

Literally nothing is closed anymore except the dining rooms of large fast food chains. Mask compliance is way lower than even a month ago. Vaccines are available at walmart walk in, no wait, because anyone who wants one has one, and now they are desperately trying to get more people to get it.

How is your area doing with vaccination coverage?

Seattle/King County has hit 70% first shot coverage and close to 40% both shots. They are predicting herd immunity levels for us by the end of May. We may drop back to level 2 from level 3 restrictions due to increasing cases and hospitalizations, though.

Iā€™m just so thankful we never had an India-like explosion here, though. Canā€™t imagine how scary that must be for people and their familiesā€¦

Open fitness? What means this?

This is us too. The school board just decided masks will be optional starting with summer school. Lots and lots of people out and out with no masks. New cases between 30 and 50 a day in my county of 260k. Maddening.

In our case it means all our elite ice talent has left the state to train elsewhere since competitions continued virtually and a bunch of small businesses have laid down ten thousand of dollars of ice over a week to reopen and then have to close again just 2 weeks laterā€¦ thrice now

I want to spend money on vaccines and COVID assistance in other countries. I am going to increase our MSF Doctors Without Borders donation, does anyone have a good one for India specifically? Whatever we donate is a drop in the bucket, but at least somethingā€™s going in the bucketā€¦

SEWA International is the one theyā€™re doing extra donation matches for at workā€¦I know it scores well on Charity Navigator but donā€™t have a lot of other info about it at this point.

Youā€™re a good egg, this thought didnā€™t even occur to me that I could donate to help vaccinations get distributed in other countries. Thank you!

Got my second Pfizer dose yesterday. The only symptom is a slightly sore arm when I woke up this morning but nothing Tylenol canā€™t fix. I listened to a This American Life episode on the ride home from the vaccination site and the last act made me a bit more hopeful about my stubborn anti-vaxx pro-Trump family membersā€¦

The Cherokee Nation has opened up their vaccination centers to everyone for appointments. It says ā€œregardless of where they liveā€ so I guess even Canadians can go!

This is an ongoing google sheet of mutual aid and donation resources for india:

Based on my experience working for an indian NGO, many of them canā€™t take foreign money legally.

CareIndia can take foreign funds: https://www.careindia.org/campaign-template/save-saviours-covid-19-wave/

This group has a ketto (like gofundme in india) and is live tweeting updates about oxygen: https://www.ketto.org/fundraiser/mission-oxygen-helping-hospitals-to-save-lives

Weird because there is evidence that unvaccinated people are OFTEN doing that.

I feel cheated - why am I still paying for Internet if Iā€™m supposed to be able to transmit 5G out of my nether regions?

Warren Ohio is having a Star Wars themed vaccination clinic on May 4, with costumes and goodie bags. LOL
