Interesting. This is my first since my shot, and my period is light, almost nothing (usually super heavy)
This happened to me in college after a meningitis vaccine. It was very unexpected, but was only for a single period.
ETA - I have no data for the Pfizer vaccine because I’m on mirena and that doesn’t happen anymore, lol. It’s the best.
Interesting. Data shows that having Covid in your first trimester increases your risk of preterm delivery.
i am 48 and barely had a period since last summer. within a few days of my covid vaccine almost a month ago, i got a gusher like days of yore, and today i just got another one my second shot is tuesday.
just when i thought i was out …
I’ve heard anecdotally on the Vaccine Hunters group here (which also has many discussions of side effects) that heavy period after second dose is a thing that happens to some women. I’ve seen a few reports of it. It didn’t happen to me after my first dose but I’m on the pill so .
Interesting. I’m trying to remember if that happened to me. If so, it definitely didn’t last- this last period was very light and short.
Sorry, this isn’t directly covid related but there’s no disability thread (unless I missed it?) so I’m just going to drop this in this thread since it’s health adjacent:
In case you’re in the mood to send an email:
Thanks all!
Gross. Especially now when going in stores has been dangerous for over a year
i was and did
thank you for sharing
Quickly looked at that article and saw that the subjects had organ transplants and were severely immunesuppressed, so I’m not sure if the study results would still apply to someone like me.
I had called my eye specialist before I got my vaccine and she said to skip the next methotrexate dose but keep doing the Humira.
I’m not sure if your health/medication means your eligible to donate blood but the Red Cross is doing antibody tests on all donations and (if you’re eligible and interested) in donating it’s a pretty cool perk. I tested positive for spike protein antibodies at my last donation and I’m very interested in how long I keep testing positive.
Interesting! I’m not sure but I think I’m okay to donate blood. I’ve only done it a couple of times because I’m scared of needles and last time I silently sobbed through the whole thing… it takes me a major burst of courage to go.
Emailed.
Yeah - organ transplant recipients should be pretty much the “worst case” scenario for strength of immunosuppressants. And they were also on a different class of drugs - not TNF inhibitors.
My rheumatologist ordered me a spike protein antibody test for three weeks after my Moderna dose.
I’m bummed out by my first personal anecdote of partially vacc’d person I know getting covid. Someone from my family got a first dose. I have no idea how long passed, just that prior to her second dose she and several other people (including her 2 year old granddaughter) got covid from an unvaccinated person at her granddaughter’s birthday party (a gathering of less than 10 people). Masks were not worn.
She has covid pneumonia and has been very sick for over 3 weeks. There is a difference between getting a vaccine and being fully vaccinated. She initially took a wait and see approach with getting the vaccine. She very much regrets waiting. I hope she makes a full recovery and that her story wakes up the segment of the family that she’s from that hasn’t taken the pandemic seriously!
I’m wondering about something and I thought I’ll ask here. In France, the health authorities have decided that people under 55 won’t have AstraZeneca. Those who had already received AstraZeneca as first dose would receive Pfizer or Moderna for their second dose. I’m puzzled about that. Do we have studies confirming that two vaccines can be mixed?
Last I heard they’re in progress, the UK has been mixing and matching for a while, and the one prelim report I saw was good but the CDC (US) *
The CDC doesn’t feel comfortable adopting the same policy last I checked.
That’s awful, I’m really sorry.
Thanks. It really is awful.
