Just got my second shot.
Same!!! Like my midwife said I feel like I have super powers now!
According to the New York Times, of the 20 places Covid is increasing the fastest right nowā¦ 16 are in Michigan! At least weāre good at something?
Got my J&J shot tonight.
First research Iāve seen on immunosuppressed people and covid vaccine response. 17% had detectable antibodies after the first mRNA shot vs 90% general population. No data yet on what happens after second shot or with JJ. Might want to get an antibody test after your vaccination period if you are on immunosuppressant meds.
At a median of 20 days (IQR, 17-24 days) after the first dose of vaccine, antibody (anti-S1 or antiāreceptor-binding domain) was detectable in 76 of 436 participants (17%; 95% CI, 14%-21%).
Thanks for posting! Iām glad someone is finally starting to do these studies. I hope that the immunosuppressant is just causing the immune system to react differently - maybe protection is coming from T cells or something even in the people who donāt have antibodies. I know they were seeing some of that in people with natural immunity (no antibodies but a T cell response).
PSA if anyone does decide to get an antibody test after vaccination, be careful that you get the right one. Many of the commercial antibody tests are designed to test for natural immunity, and may not catch antibodies to the spike protein specifically like youād get from the vaccine. So a negative result wouldnāt necessarily mean the vaccine didnāt work. Source:
My coworker is getting his first shot now, and his wife who had said she was never going to got hers also! Iām glad they changed their minds.
Weāve finally decided that covid is scarier than offending galen weston or the Walmart giants.
My husband just got back from his first shot Halfway there for both of us!
I just got an email from Kaiser and it is my turn for the vaccine! I was able to schedule it for Friday morning! I really hope I just get the J&J Vaccine and I donāt have many side effects since I need to take care of the babies.
Quick question for everyone who has done more research into this - it asked me if I am allergic to eggs and I said no. But then I thought about it and I am not eating eggs right now because we think Baby E is potentially allergic to eggs and I am nursing her. Is that a reason why I shouldnāt get the vaccine?
It may be more of a generic allergy questionnaire, since the influenza vaccine is manufactured in eggs.
As far as I know none of the three Covid vaccines are manufactured with any eggs or egg parts.
point of info: I got the J&J at 15:30 on Monday, felt fine all evening, at about 2AM on Tuesday I woke up with chills. Slept okay-ish the rest of the night, but confirmed when I woke up at ~5:30 that I felt crummy and had a 101F fever.
Fever - up to 102F at one point + chills + fatigue + headache continued all day, ended up clocking out of work from 12PM - 15:00 to nap.
Felt crummy all Tuesday evening, went to bed with 100F fever. Woke up at 6AM Wednesday and the fever was gone, headache and body stiffness has been around all day, but Iām up and functional.
I did also have an RA flare that was presumably triggered by the vaccine, as was told to me might happen.
Iām currently having the same side affects, like exactly. I had my shot last night. I really hope to feel better tomorrow. Iām kind of annoyed at myself for getting the shot the day before I am on Puglet duty all day. Glad itās over with though.
I felt fine, but honestly I pretty often feel like Iāve been run over by a truck what with one thing and another so take that with a grain of saltā¦
I got my second Pfizer dose yesterday and just over 24 hours later I have a mild headache and am super tired. No fever though. No idea if it is really the vaccine or just being pregnant.
Seriouslyā¦ I was like I have a headache and body stiffness and fatigue - is it RA? Is it my period? Is it the vaccine? WHO KNOWS? It helped to have the fever because that is unusual for me so I could at least be like āyea, okay, this might be the vaccineā
I had a headache after my first dose but I had no idea whether it was because I skipped coffee (so I wouldnāt have to repeatedly find a public restroom on my drive up to the vaccine site) or the vaccine. And I was really tired but thatās fairly normal for me, haha. The extremely painful arm though, oof. That lasted for 3 days.
About 30 hours after my shot the only thing I have is a tender arm. The last one took two full days before the exhaustion kicked in though, so it could still happen. My boss was feverish and freezing under blankets within 6 hours
woke up in the middle of the night dripping in sweat but fever is gone and Iām feeling much better today though not a 100%. Still a bit tired and slight headache.
Just got my first dose (Moderna) and am waiting out the 15-minute period! The nurse who administered it said the more you move your arm and get the medication dispersed, the less sore it will be. Hoping my side effects arenāt too bad because tomorrow is my first day of work after mat leave, though Iām prepared to feel pretty crummy. Hopefully itās a quiet one just catching up on everything.
