Covid-19 discussion

Do we know why some people feel sick after (especially) the 2nd shot and why some don’t? I keep hearing that younger people and people with strong immune systems get sicker than others. I don’t know if there is any science to back that up.

Edit: Sorry if this has already been asked! I stopped checking this thread for a bit because of ~~self care~~.

Thanks!

Dodger Stadium opened up appointments for 50+ today, so I got them in on April 1st!

It seems weird that Colorado is opening vaccinations to the general public this Friday, even though the previous phase only opened on the 19th.

It’s good for us, because we can start looking for appointments for my husband, but is it just going to be completely crazy?

We’re opening up new phases in Oregon every week at this point, every monday a new one has opened. We only have 2 more left. The gen pop one was supposed to be in July, and now it’s as early as April 26 depending on county.

I think they have a lot more supply than expected!

Also wondering about that too, fingers crossed.

Question/observation about having my first vaccine dose (not about disregarding health advice, don't worry)

Have other folks who have received their first dose felt an increased interest in doing things that they haven’t done for the past year? I don’t mean things like, I can’t wait to go to a restaurant or travel again, but feeling increased motivation. I haven’t thought about my eyebrows for the last year, but I’m starting to think about getting them threaded: not because I feel safer, but I just suddenly care what they look like more. I’m wearing some jewelry I haven’t worn in awhile and have felt the urge to shower every day, instead of making myself shower every other day. Is this what hope for the future feels like?! Lol.

I haven’t had my first vaccine yet and I still feel that way, including specifically with the brows. I’m following public health advice, but I just… feel like the clouds are maybe gonna be gone at some point ever.

Oddly, I’m waking up more easily in the mornings. Usually I snooze my alarm once or twice, but I’ve been waking up BEFORE my alarm. Maybe I’m just going to bed a little bit earlier, but it’s like I want to start my day on-time and get things going.

I’m pretty sure that’s called hope for the future.

I did just radically change my hair, although I’ve been vaccinated for a while now.

One thing I’m REALLY looking forward to is going to second-hand stores and thrift stores to buy some more clothes. I need some pants that fit more comfortably, but I hate guessing if online sizes are going to fit (especially since I don’t have any “real” pants that fit to compare measurements to right now), and I’d prefer to get used clothes anyhow.

I haven’t had a haircut in 16 months. I CAN’T WAIT. I’m scheduling it shortly after my second dose!

I definitely felt some depression/ennui lift. Not all, but a little. And I’m sleeping a little better.

there are two wolves within me.

one wants to go swimming several times a week.

the other wants to fulfill a lifelong dream of finally having platinum hair.

we’ll see which one wins.

I definitely had a increased interest in showering and doing other things. It is fun to do something, get dressed nicely and even wear makeup. I had heard that younger people were more likely to get sick after the 2nd dose and didn’t expect to because I am older. I was really sick for 3 days.

Just hearing that they’re opening the dates has made me so much happier. I’ve also considered getting my hair professionally dyed and maybe highlighted, I’ve never done that in my life.

Just got home from getting my first shot. Now everyone in our household has had at least their first shot. Early in May we will be a fully vaccinated household. Looking forward to being able to do the little things again like weekly grocery shopping with my hubby.

Booked appointments for my partner & metamor today. I’m so freaking excited. We’ll all be fully vaccinated, fingers crossed, by mid may.
