Covid-19 discussion

April 22! Apparently they auto-schedule your 2nd appointment 28 days out because that’s in range for both Pfizer and Moderna and different stores get different vaccines. I guess that’s easier for the website to handle rather than making it store-specific. I asked though and this store only gets Pfizer since you can’t mix them.

I keep sitting here thinking, how in fuck did we pull this off? We never even get concert tickets!

Ah I’m so happy for your mum! Also since it’s the vaccine we’ll all be offered here I very much appreciate hearing her experience with it.

I’m just seeing this now as somehow I lost this thread for a moment! I’m so frickin happy for you.

I actually looked for this thread to post that I gently asked my friend (she’s in her 60s) if she was wanting the vaccine, and if so had scheduled an appointment yet. She said she hadn’t, but was planning to schedule soon. I love her. She is the very best person, but she can procrastinate like no other. Knowing this, I told her I would be happy to help her find an appointment. She texted back asking for help, and now she’s scheduled for Monday! I’m so very relieved and glad I was able to help her quickly find an appointment.

Just got my shot! Was able to sign up for a spot in Colorado Springs within a few days of realizing I’m eligible.

I have a canker sore. I haven’t had one since I was a kid so I guess it’s a vaccine reaction? Not one I was expecting.

My husband got one after his, don’t remember if first or second. No other symptoms, or at least none he would admit. Pfizer.

Fiancé and I are scheduled to volunteer at a West Side vaccine clinic on Sunday morning. A friend who volunteered thru the same group was vaccinated after her shift. However, due the to crackdown on vaccine providers not following the rules, I’m not sure we’ll get one. Still feels good to be of service in a hard-hit part of Chicago. Crossing fingers for everyone else on the lookout!

24 days until I’m eligible to get my shot. I feel like it’s close enough were I can start the count down.

Yay, got my first dose today!

I got the Pfizer vaccine. My parents both got Moderna, and my mother in law got the Johnson and Johnson, so we’ve got the full spread.

I’m scheduled for my second dose on the 16th, I’m so excited!

Eta they posted backward, read the second first.

:cry::cry: all the more reason to be careful and get vaccinated.

I am annoyed to say that my county once again has a transmission rate above 1.0. Way to go!

I thought I was going to be the last person to get vaccinated, but my work was able to score a vaccine clinic for us all, so shot #1 of Pfizer is now coursing through my immune system. (High five to my fellow vaccine buddies today!)

But in even better news, they had a couple of extra shots and my mom was able to get vaccinated with me. She’s 64 (and 8 months!!!) years old, so she just missed the 65+ cut off and we thought she’d be stuck fighting the herd in May. I’m so relieved and grateful that she was able to get one.

Just testing my understanding here…
Once Boyfriend and I and our landlord are all fully vaxxed (I believe she said she’s getting her 1st dose this weekend), can we go into our common laundry room/storage area without masks?

The laundry room and the rest of the basement, which is now her living space, are connected, there’s a door between them but she leaves it open sometimes because the laundry room isn’t heated.

Ooh, where? I googled vaccine volunteering a while ago but at the time you had to have some sort of medical experience or be a student.

I hope you get a shot out of it - I think technically you’d be 1A or 1B as a frontline people-facing healthcare-related worker, though I am not certain whether volunteers count?

FUCKIN YEAH!!!

Oh, Illinois…

The state announced that “local health departments that have seen waning demand for vaccinations can begin inoculating anyone 16 and older starting now.” Great! Which local health departments would those be? The state won’t say or provide a list, people are responsible for contacting health departments on their own to find out. Because of course, Let the 74th annual Hunger Games begin!

Spoiler alert, this includes nothing near Chicago. But I’m hearing that most of downstate just cares that you live in IL and isn’t turning away us unwashed urban heathens.

So, this is progress.
