My aunt and uncle are fully vaccinated!
And my bestie got her shot this week!
It’s starting to feel so real.
Data points: 24 hours after my parents got their second doses they did have some effects, my father’s were very mild, my mother said she felt very tired, sore arm, and headachy and mild fever. 24 hours after that and they are both totally fine again.
Husband got his first shot Wednesday night and was exhausted and cranky on Friday. He got moderna.
I got moderna on Tuesday. I’m usually tired and cranky, so I don’t think I had any side effects.
Only the health dept. is giving vaccines not the drugstores?
The drugstores in Ohio aren’t limited to county residents. I know a couple of people got appointments 3 hours away.
I got the J&J one shot vaccine today! My area has retail pharmacies offering it to government employees (aka my category) and county health opened availability to retail and grocery workers. I’m really glad I could get it before spring break, because my library recently reopened browsing to the public and we are pretty sure we’ll get slammed during it.
Some drugstores are, but only up to 1B (seniors and certain essential workers). Anecdotally, some people with health conditions have been able to get in; it seems to vary by store whether they’ll accept you or not and whether they ask for proof/what proof they want.
Here, some drugstores are turning people away if they don’t live in the county… which sucks if you just drove for hours to your appointment. You’d think the website would control for that and not let you make an appointment if they don’t want you because you live in the wrong place. This seems to sometimes be happening and sometimes not.
It’s the inconsistency that is maddening! And some stores bend the rules, others don’t, people on the Vaccine Hunters group say it seems to depend on who’s working that day… argh.
My stimulus is already pending in my bank account. Scheduled to come in Wednesday. $4200, woooowza.
Wow I’m gonna go check my bank account.
We got the others on the very early end too, hence checking. Not sure if it’ll follow the same pattern for everyone.
Sharing this because I was already thinking about the analogy with COVID vaccine appointment booking and various flyertalk and cc hacking skills/community behavior.
(And - yes - mixed feelings on wanting to help people on an individual basis, even when it is “gaming” an inequitable system - at the same time that we’d rather have an overall equitable system of distribution.)
My friends who are college educators are starting to get their vaccines.
I’m so glad.
The IRS says we’ll get ours deposited on Wednesday. It’s not showing on our bank, at least not the Mobil app, yet.
I hate that my bank does not show me pending deposits! Both times before, the money just showed up without warning.
Boyfriend’s does, though. I should have him check.
ETA: SWEET, I just checked the IRS and it says it’ll be deposited Wednesday.
Not sure who it’s through in Oregon, but just got this text from one of my siblings: “ Progress! Just received an email saying my number came up for the vaccine, so I’m watching for the scheduling email. (Fiancée) registered at the same time, so should be selected soon, too”
They’re not essential workers and they’re young (30s/40s) and fairly good health- he has asthma and they’re both higher BMI, but I don’t think they’d qualify under any risk categories. Maybe Oregon is opening up to everyone? I’m not totally sure lol. Still, it’ll be exciting if the entirety of my family of origin (that I’m in contact with) is vaccinated!
We just had a press conference today, they are moving opening eligibility to 45-55 age group up to starting this Friday and have tentatively announced the 16-45 group for APRIL 5, which is like, holy crap. 31% of residents have received at least one dose as of today (or maybe, as of yesterday?) - 77% of 75+, 71% of 65-74, and 40% of 55-64 (this last number is really surprising, 40% already!!). They said we are ahead of schedule based on increased supply and strong execution in the state. There are state-run mass vaccination sites, clinics in the major hospitals and university, and vaccination at CVS/Walgreens/Walmart. They expect somewhat lower demand at the younger age groups as well, which is part of the reason for moving the timeline up. Boo that some people are not taking the opportunity, but yay that it means I will get it sooner. (Actually I won’t get it any sooner, but maybe there will be ample appointments, and hopefully they don’t move the last age group back any more or I will get lumped in with everyone else!)
We are not able to sign up until our age group opens up (which means the first few days are chaos) but if in Oregon pre-registration was allowed I am not surprised the will be up soon! I am eligible not this week but next week.
Amazing!
Right? Eve a few weeks ago it felt like still an interminable wait to go, and yet here we are almost there!
I’ll probably try for Walgreens, as there is one right in town less than 10 minutes from my house, and I am decently far (like an hour?) from any major hospital doing clinics.
I just had a severe vaccine reaction. Kind of like a relief post trauma processing reaction. A happy panic attack. So be warned that if you find out you’re eligible months before expected, you might release a lot.
Actual needle later this week
