My main hobbies are hiking and partner dancing. Guess I need to double up on the hiking. Good thing DST is expanding my hiking hours. Except I need to take public transit to get to the trails…
I will lose my mind if I can’t dance OR hike. What do I do?
I’m making a poor environmental choice tonight to avoid another bus ride. Feels bad but it’s temporary?
I was just thinking maybe we shouldn’t go hiking together for the next while, if I’m going to make an effort to avoid people. Was reading on how the first cases got transmitted in China and one was just a person standing next to another person at the market
I also realized I shouldn’t have let you touch my phone!
I had a recent vent about this in my journal, and it’s hitting home more and more each day.
I basically walk in and out of people’s houses all day for a living.
I have minimal human contact aside from when I meet new clients/potential new clients (I have three of these coming up).
The people who own the houses I go in and out of do many many things for a living. One is a doctor, one is a lawyer, one is a psychiatrist, one works retail, etc. etc. and have many opportunities to bring things into their homes I suppose.
I have been using hand sanitizer and washing my hands before and after every visit and trying SO hard not to touch my face. Starting tomorrow I think I might start wearing gloves to appointments.
I have my first vacation in three years scheduled for the last weekend of March and it’s looking like we’re going to cancel it. It was my chance to see my two best friends. I’m very socially isolated, so this feels hard, but is necessary.
I’m concerned about my parents, both in their mid/late 60’s. My dad has probably potentially never had blood work done in his life I don’t think. He never goes to the doctor. So we have no clear idea how his health actually is and my mom has a few things going on that could compromise her.
They are in my area @Meowmalade but we’ve had several doctors who were infected (and didn’t know it and were treating patients) so even my husband’s dentist said he should cancel, my PT too.
If you’re careful about washing your hands, at least your clients are not breathing in your face! But yeah, not touching the face is SO HARD.
I’m so sorry you had to cancel your trip, though. I feel you-- I had to cancel my trip to see my college best bud too. Maybe you could all spend some time on a Skype group chat and dedicate some time to each other, even if the trip is cancelled?
I’m sort of halfheartedly participating in a conversation about an upcoming climbing trip I’m supposed to go on next month. Everyone is planning things and apparently I’m the only one who doesn’t think it’s going to be able to happen. I’ve been the only one so far who’s decided not to go to the gym. Maybe I’ll be the only one who bails on the trip too. Who knows. I feel like people aren’t taking this seriously enough.
I think it’s one of those things that doesn’t feel real and imminent… until it is. I was happily going to plays through this weekend. Now, reading the accounts of what’s happening in Italy I’m feeling like “oh shit, this just got real and could happen here (or anywhere)”.
My providers have said “call before you come in”. Many things can be done over the phone, though that doesn’t help with your eye appts.
ETA: you should still call first, as many are screening for symptoms and will cancel/reschedule your appt rather than have you attend and potentially infect their other patients/staff.
None of my stuff can be done over the phone, unfortunately. I’m going to cancel any non-urgent appointments.
At the eye specialist, the technicians told me that it’s good to be the first patients of the morning. They’re doing a deep disinfect every night. I guess it’s a blessing that my next appointment is at 8:15am, which is way earlier than I’d wanted!
One has many health concerns and thinks the virus is a joke, and the other is a GP who takes it very seriously but also works 6 days a week and is now seeing people with covid19 symptoms. They are both mid to late 60’s.
