“ The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Sunday said people who have experienced severe reactions to prior vaccines or injectable drugs can still get the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for COVID-19, but should discuss the risks with their doctors and be monitored for 30 minutes afterward.
The guidance is a shift from a prior proposal laid out Saturday that would have recommended against vaccination for that group of people. During a webinar with physicians, CDC officials said patients with a history of severe reactions should take precautions because of two documented cases of anaphylaxis in British health care workers who received the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.”
So the concern appears to have always been about vaccine reactions, not allergies, but that has since been backtracked.
But differs from Britain’s guidance;
“ Mbaeyi said people with other types of allergies — to food, latex, pollen or other substances — do not have to take special precautions and are recommended to receive the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.
The guidance differs from instructions issued by British regulators, who are recommending against vaccination for people who have experienced anaphylaxis due to allergies to food or medicine. The cases of anaphylaxis in that country are still under investigation, as the cause remains unknown.”
Good to know, makes me less concerned for H on Saturday. As long as he doesn’t spike a fever and have to stay in bed for 3 days like he did in 2019 it will all be great.
StepMIL’s daughter has covid. Boyfriend talked to FIL last night and FIL assured him that stepMIL will not be visiting Daughter… but honestly we don’t trust her one bit not to want to see her grandkids over Christmas. Hopefully she stays smart and doesn’t bring covid home to FIL who is 80 with diabetes, cancer survivor, probably other stuff wrong too. StepMIL is in her 70s and is in and out of the hospital with heart issues and is also diabetic.
Dear universe, here is hoping that they are smart. At least, if FIL is a covid denier, he is not sharing that sentiment with Boyfriend, he seems to be doing OK at taking precautions, if he’s being honest.
If they were just theorizing, I wouldn’t take it as seriously, but they said there are confirmed cases of it. Though, this is also one of the few times that I respect a person’s education. MD + multiple phd carries a lot of weight.
Like during trials? They have evidence of someone who was vaccinated spreading it to someone else?
With community spread so extreme, how can they prove who spread it?
Also- have you heard is this going to be an annual shot like the flu? Decade like tetanus? Lifetime?
Do they have any evidence of how long it is expected to last?
During trials, they were testing a certain number of people. Someone with the vaccine was shedding a lot of the virus, family member became ill. Claim they were following precautions, but the fact that they were shedding COVID is the kicker.
On the length of immunization… we don’t know yet. Maybe 3 months, maybe 6. Maybe more? We just don’t know.
Yup, I didn’t share that but it blew up on Twitter. I didn’t say anything to him but got included in lists of “nice” alternatives to Dave Ramsey which got me blocked by him on twitter being blocked by DR is a badge of honor among PF twitter so I am not mad
He also described people who work at hotels as “$8 an hour twerps”
They are actively discouraging employees to work from home and telling them they will have to quit instead and there is a culture of not wearing masks in the office. He has turned from someone who gives decent money advice with a sprinkle of religion to just a conservative rant host
