I would also keep the hikes since you can do them without public transit.
I think therapy would be fine at this point. I’d try to get the dental things taken care of sooner rather than later if they can get you in, in case they need to shut down later or take only emergency cases, due to mask shortages.
Related: I’m due for an annual physical in the next month or so. I don’t have an appointment scheduled yet, and I’m thinking about just delaying since I’m in good health and don’t need any prescriptions, and I don’t want to cause someone else to not get care when they need it. Or should I try to make an appointment and let the doctor decide whether they want to see me?
Just some anecdotes. My county has 2 confirmed cases.
1.) I work at a medium-sized liquor store. Yesterday we did $21,000 in sales. An average day is usually like $10,000. Some people were buying cheap vodka as a disinfectant.
2.) My husband works at a large grocery chain. Yesterday they were out of all paper products. They got 4,000 units in last night, opened at 6:00, and were sold out by 6:15. They did more sales yesterday than the day before Thanksgiving or the Christmas Eve. Someone stole hand sanitizer out of the employee break room.
I am very very curious how this is going to shake out for my company.
We are pretty conservative (I say we…) and mostly think shit like this is hogwash. BUT we do work for hospital systems who are possibly shutting the door to unnecessary personnel (aka, construction workers who can be put on hold).
I am physically at work. I am not happy about this.
The big local grocery store last night was an absolute madhouse. Target this morning at 7am was totally fine. At least I am now equipped to stay the fuck home for a while.
Most of the liquor stores here don’t carry anything over 110 proof except for 151 proof rum, which i have on hand because I use it for preparing tinctures. But I also have 91% isopropyl too.
I know this is totally inconsequential, but I’m a words person and I notice weird trends in language (sometimes). Isn’t it odd how basically every official is using the exact wording “abundance of caution”?
Weirding me out…WE’RE ALL JUST COGS IN THE MACHINE, MAN. Hahaha.
I was just thinking about how “social distancing” showed up in everyone’s vocabulary basically overnight. It makes sense, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard that term before.
So I just gave in to my worry monster and made an Amazon purchase online to reinforce the basics in my pantry (beans, rice, coffee, gloves). Nearly all the city grocery stores are reported to be empty so I didn’t want to try my luck since I need to be healthy in order to work.
Also, although I noticed that all of the ‘home goods’ or ‘health and beauty’ section disinfectant was sold out, I was able to find disinfectant easily under ‘pets’.
I purchased a jug of concentrated disinfectant and germicide kennel cleaner.
Since I have zero disinfectant cleaner at home and only 1/2 bottle of alcohol and 1/4 travel bottle of hand sanitizer, this is an improvement.
I feel okay about this but I have now officially over-spent my budget AND my income is under performing this month. Bleh.
My coworkers main sadness about schools being closed is for “all of the poor student athletes who are being denied their final year of playing.” Really?
My mom sent out an email to the family that contained misinformation about COVID-19 prevention. Luckily my SIL fired back that it had been debunked pretty quickly.
It’s so easy to get sucked into things that are wrong!
Constant vigilance, my friends.
I’ve been taking my temperature a lot more lately. Things that are pretty common things for me (like cough due to allergies) are possible symptoms, so I’ve been checking when I have an uptick, just in case. Still been my usual 97.9.
