This wasnā€™t on my list but about 20 receipts stuck to my fridge from back to September have been added to my spending tracking and thrown away

I flailed at the student loan people some more and learned nothing. I applied for PSLF in July.

I think I need to reconsider that my goals may be too audacious, and that there are other higher priority things.

  1. Apply for what appears to be the job that has everything I want
  2. Request part time status
  3. Finish just the first floor of floors and get the furniture back in there.

Thatā€™s good dumpster fire management.

New additional goal for myself: subscribe to the Oregonian before the end of the year. I view this basically as charitable giving, but I need to do it dang it. Not much local journalism left now :sob:

I think Iā€™ve managed to consolidate most of my Trello boards. As my paperwork/ digital information becomes more organised Iā€™m getting closer to working on the dumpster fire of my physical spaces againā€¦

  • I have been checking in daily with Habitica
  • I have either gone on a walk or done yoga (or both) every day this week
  • Still havenā€™t put in my official resignation - but I plan to on Monday!
  • This check-in has reminded me that I still need to find a new home for old handheld games

I should know by now that putting my goals in a monthly challenge is the best way to ensure they donā€™t get done. I still have my momā€™s car, and my car is still in Maine, so no car stuff will be done in December. However I have managed to:

  • clean half the bathroom
  • buy curtain fabric and borrow a sewing machine
  • deal with the battery that might have burned our house down

I would like to:

  • spend all the money on my transit FSA
  • fix the running toilet
  • sew some curtains

I think thatā€™s it.

Week 2:
Two more books to go. Have made progress on the garage so even if I donā€™t finish this month, itā€™s still a win. Have looked into getting a will started. Havenā€™t done the other two items yetā€¦

I did one donation drop off on Friday! The second on is restricted days, so I will have to plan for that this week. Also included in this is a run to the dump for spray can drop off.

  • I moved some spring/fall coats to another closet so that the entryway closet has enough room to hang scarves on the rod next to the winter coats. Larger items are now in fabric bins in the closet. Eventually I want to get a mirror with some hooks to place near the door so that frequently used items can be more accessible. Iā€™ll look for one at a thrift store whenever I start going to stores in person again.

Bonus results:

  • I found a winter coat from when I was a teenager that doesnā€™t fit me anymoreā€”will donate it and some extra gloves/scarves to an organization that distributes winter things to schools in my area.
  • Reorganized/decluttered several other closets as a result of working on the entryway.

I sorted the Satan Closet! This is probably as good as it is going to get for the time being. I wanted to toss most of my packing material but my boss told me that when my Mac upgrade gets approved I likely will be required to ship the old one back to headquarters on the east coast so I will probably need all of this.

At left, consolidated bin of packing stuff, both for the Mac and my business. Center, backpack full of jewelry supplies and exercise stuff. Right, a case of wine and my work equipment which has to live behind a door because the cats will fuck with it.

ETA, this was the before:

  • Finish sewing the patches onto my coat ā€“ COMPLETE! There are spots that could be patched but all the functional requirements are done. Iā€™ll get D to take a picture of me later. :white_check_mark:
  • Tackle the mending pile and mend (or alter) 3 things ā€“ PROGRESS: excellent! One item fully mended (a beautiful cardigan I forgot I had that only needed the side seam fixed), one more complex mend begun.
  • Eat down the pantry: donā€™t buy any pantry staples that are primarily for me ā€“ PROGRESS: so far, so good, though pizza has still not been made :arrow_right:

Update: small progress. One credit card sent an email a couple days ago that the annual fee is due next month unless I call and cancel the card within 30 days of receipt of notice. Iā€™m going to call tomorrow, because the email came at the end of a busy week, and tomorrow I have the day off. I used this card for a balance transfer, which Iā€™ve paid off, and the promotional rate ends next month. I have another card through the same bank already with better rewards. Also my credit score is over 800, I donā€™t plan to try to buy a house for at least a couple years, so Iā€™m not worried about a small dip to my credit score if I close an account or two.

I also went through and picked out a small bag of clothes and accessories (largely warm stuff like hats, socks, scarves, blankets) I can give out though mutual aid group (which may not meet this week as weā€™re supposed to have a snowstorm). I still need to go through the fancier clothes that wonā€™t be helpful in that context.

Have a reminder set to cancel Duolingo trial later this week.

So not a ton of progress this week, but plugging along! I have a lot of time off the last two weeks of the month, so I expect to have more time to tackle a lot of this then.
