Challenge: Put out the Dumpster Fire December 🧯🔥🗓

His room was so bad that you have to paint and seal the floor?!?!?!?!

:grimacing::grimacing::grimacing:

I am horrified on your behalf!!! How long was he even there? I feel like it wasn’t that long. Why did (and does still!!) he have soooooooo much stuff there? Aaaaaaarrrrrrgggggggg!!!

I’m gonna be dropping off my goodwill bag today. Duolingo streak still unbroken at 574 days and counting.

Planning to do some more work at home this weekend to earn some more overtime. That’ll hopefully push me to over $1K after taxes on my ot/vac payout.

  • Organize my office/ sewing/ art room by making permanent places for things to live. There are 3 tables in this room and they all have just stacks of things on them. I feel like I’ve been trying all year to get this under control.

  • Sit down and work on my calendar for the new year

  • Finish two more job applications and finalize a clients podcast quote

  • Lay somewhere and finish reading Pride and the Prejudice

  • Finish editing and upload the 3rd episode of Cold Storage

Did they do a von Willebrand’s Antigen test or a Factor 8 Assay?

No, we did pretty minor investigations just to see if any of the key labs are out of range. Mainly stuff that would be likely to be screwed up postpartum. Anemia panel, total metabolic panel, autoimmune thyroid, stuff like that. Vitamin D.

For anything genetic, I’ve had a full carrier status done because of infertility work up in the past. So I know there’s some other random ones that have already been checked by virtue of a billion work ups in the past lol.

Eight months but it was obvious the first week that it was a terrible decision

This was after he’d come over to “finish” on Monday. Not bad for a room. Bad for someone who thinks they are done moving.

The day before there were probably 50 paper grocery bags full of ??? covering the whole floor. I’m guessing at least some of them had actual groceries because the room reeks and there are stains on the floor.

Lesson learned

Also… I kind of feel bad for his girlfriend (I think you said he was moving in with his GF?)…

(Like… does she show what she is getting into? He might be a really cool nice guy but O.M.G.)

Yes! I imagine she’s seen his room and that it hasn’t been perfect, so I think they’ll be fine since it’s the first time either of them have lived in a setting with someone they care about (either friend or partner) and not parents or random dorm assignments.

I think too he’s at an age where there’s a ton of growing room. I just don’t need to be part of it anymore!

They moved into my friend’s four-plex which i still find hilarious since he was one of two friends outside the forums I complained to!

Ok so week 3 is kind of abysmal which I think just shows that my priorities were wrong in either the goal setting or right now?! Because I’ve gotten a massive amount of decluttering and projects done in my life elsewhere 🤷

Book: Read another section but it’s not even 1/4 done. I would rather watch tv. :grimacing:

Investment consolidation: I just don’t care right now. Abandoned.

Dance classes: I am going to do Steezy. But am reluctant to start even the 7 day trial. Why is it that I don’t want to actually do the classes but DO want to dance? Hnnngh.

What I’ve actually done:

  • purged and thrown out a whole bunch of detritus from our past move to be ready for the new move. Still need to do office but kids belongings and our bedroom is done
  • spent lots of time acting on enrichment for my child: better organization to rotate his toys, more processes in place with nanny, more learning about new toddler needs around eating and emotional work, sourcing cheap but valuable experiences like dress up costumes and more crafts
  • lots of time resting to heal from concussion and massive burn out from working overtime this year

Off topic, but I would love to hear more about this cheap sourcing! :raised_hands:

Literally the exact same with steezy, for over a year for me, so I feel you.

I will put it in enrichment thread because I need help with some stuff!

Wow that sentence I wrote wasn’t even coherent so good job sort of understanding me. WANNA ALSO BE DANCE BUDDIES? LOL

No it was totally coherent it made me feel seen.

I think I decided to just focus on dance HIIT for now rather than “real” dance because I feel too overwhelmed at the idea trying to learn a new skill which is I think the issue with steezy

Further office setup progress:

  • my blinds have shipped and are currently stranded in alaska, but eh they might get here next week
  • fabric is put away
  • sewing patterns are put away
  • I sorted through the fabric scraps and they’re in temporary boxes but still need to get put away
  • I did some actual sewing, AND working, so I’m going to go ahead and call the space functional-ish

So, yea, a certified letter with a demand that we either sign a new contract (haven’t read it, but higher rent) or get out by Jan. 5 has caused some movement on this, despite the pandemic. Don’t know what the owner thinks he’d do if we just ignored - our old contract is still valid. But whatever. We may get it done. It’s tempting to get out everything we want and let him deal with the rest for being an asshole in the pandemic.

And this was a big fat fuck yeah!
