Bridgerton

squeals with excitement

Realistically how many dresses would someone in the ton have per season?

Cressida Cowper and her mother are horrified by the idea of wearing a dress twice but that seems exaggerated?

All of these things are true, but I guess it doesn’t strike me as enough to be like, socially reviled the way she seems to be? Like earning sneers, etc. It seems like she’d be more forgotten than anything. And her sisters didn’t really earn that treatment when they were on the market.

It seems enough to me! It always seems to me that they’re not truly upper class like everyone else.

They’re definitely upperclass, Lord Featherington is nobility with a title and an estate.

bridgertons are a higher rank (Viscount >> Lord) but several other folks in the show are untitled but richer aristocrats, but therefore lower rank than the Featheringtons.

Sounds like it’s subjective, then!

I just want to put this here to stare at.

Believe it or not this is very historically accurate wig (though it was more popular about 30 years before the show is set)

I watched two seasons while sick this week. I’m better now so season 3 will have to wait. I’m not a fan of Jane Austin or Gossip Girl so I knew this wasn’t my show but watched anyway because… inertia and fever lol. I was most upset about the “one waltz” that they danced to in season 1 after getting married that was very much not a waltz.

Ha! I know the feeling of watching a show that isn’t for you because you’re sick. A particularly bad UTI is why I watched Stranger Things even though I’m a wimp. Got to take a lot of pee breaks to calm down hahaha. Anyway, you might at least have enjoyed the string renditions of pop songs?

Haha it probably took longer than it should have to realize there were pop songs! I’m a classical music nerd so the Mozart and Vivaldi were much easier to identify :joy:

I just saw that the second half of the season isn’t dropping for several more weeks?!?! :sob:

Yeah I am not a fan of gossip girl or Grey’s anatomy so I knew I would dislike aspects of the adaptation. Glad it was a good sick week show for you!

I finished the first 4 episodes and it ended on a great note with the very hot carriage ride and the trailer was so juicy, too! Probably my favorite season so far, because I really like Pen.

Also why just follow the romance of one couple when you can have 5?! :joy:

I do like that they’re not just doing “And they all lived happily ever after!” with Kate and Anthony. I know the actor for Daphne’s husband went on to other projects so they’re harder to include as a couple, but Anthony being the head of household and Kate having to sort out her new status with her MIL still very much around is interesting to watch.

On a different topic, the actress for Francesca has never looked seventeen-ish to me. I know the other actresses are older than their character’s age but that’s just one tiny thing I have to consciously ignore for Francesca I don’t have to actively ignore as much for the others.

Spoiler for Francesca and her potential love interest, I think an episode 4 reveal

He got music written for her, ahh!! I really wonder was snag the writers are going to inject in the second half of the season for them. He’s just adorable.
