Canvasback
Greater Scaup
No pics here yet, but we have a flock of wild turkeys which have discovered our bird feeder. They seem to like what the little birds leave on the ground, mostly cracked corn… I counted 8 this morning.
The killdeer babies are my favorite!
Osprey hunting… successfully
Warblers
Other birds seen today
(Took a LOT more horrible photos of swallows!)
We also saw some variety of ducks in the far distance including green-winged teal! But no good photos.
_birds at the park today, redwing blackbirds, blue-winged and green-winged teal
birds around the yard today (purple! finch, gold finch, sparrow, brown thrasher)
Not my best photos, but saw some pileated woodpeckers this morning and managed to get photos, albeit a bit rough.
when autofocus does not select the correct thing
when it does better
when one cannot complain
The shadowy one with a phone
Oh those are so good.
except where I lost 5 shots of it flying right at me, pursued by red winged blackbird
Merlin says this is a yellow bellied sapsucker
there was also an egret shot I lost out on, but that was the fault of a canada goose, and me not having my lens off already
Awesome!
Great hike with a local community group this morning! Cloudy, barely warm enough, overall lovely for a hike and decent for photos!
New friend spotted the grackle and I’m so glad he did!
Fun day!! Two lifers visiting us. Rose-breasted grosbeak and black&white warbler. Some grosbeak photos by MvR. The warbler was a speed demon, and I didn’t get a clear shot!
Stunning photos!
Did you hear the Rose-breasted grosbeak? They have a chirp that sounds just like a squeaky sneaker on a gym floor.
Hmm you know I was just outside hearing a very high-pitched sound I wasn’t familiar with. Maybe?! ![]()
We sat on the deck and enjoyed some more good birding. Also saw downy and red-bellied woodpecker, white-breasted nuthatch, but no fantastic photos.
I beg to differ. These are amazing.
