Oh yeah - MvR pointed out a pileated woodpecker, and I ran outside but it went and hid, but then I noticed the flicker!

Birding weekend just beginning. Mushroom focused today 
Treated by a yellow warbler this morning. Lots of green heron, snowy egrets, clapper rail. Saw a couple cormorant, great blue heron. Several downy woodpecker on our hike, and a chickadee.

Great blue heron. Watched it a long time. Ended up leaving and coming home and finally catching it taking off!
Often see the cormorant in flight – caught one on camera. Also saw one while we were out.

More great blue herons… and a billion cormorants, and lots of great egrets and snowy egrets today.
And several white ibis, and we believe… an immature glossy white ibis?!
Also a couple eagles, and at least one osprey.

I recognise some of these, we have several of these here too! Egrets and herons of various sorts, cormorants and ibis. (And they’re actually related, as opposed to our “magpies” and “robins” which are not)

No luck seeing the salmon run, but the birds we saw seemed happy

Due to weather and wanting another place we could take Keeley, we didn’t go to Cape May today. Cool floating boardwalk, but not much bird life. Pretty cool to see this great blue heron among the camouflage though.
