the red winged blackbirds certainly see us as prey if we disregard their calls at the wrong time.
great series of shots. I really like the ibis against the building for the colour repitition

After the rain, the tree swallows (and Northern rough-winged swallows) were actually sitting still for a change!
As a birder… bunch of long-distance shots across the lake. The wind was blowing hard creating intense waves. The birds were riding up and down the waves. Got to see three four distinct species (at least) – common loon, white-winged scoter, lesser scaup, and red-breasted merganser. Pretty sure I hadn’t seen / identified at least two of those before.
As a photographer… well the two birds I could get with nice lighting and a decent enough shot. Female mallard and a Northern flicker.
Terrible photo quality, but considering with sun glare I wasn’t even sure I had the bird in frame I’m please I got any pictures of this very patient lil bird.
Edit: Eastern Bluebird. There were a bunch of them flying around. I thought maybe I saw blue jays whizzing around too but maybe it was just a bunch of these dudes. They were mostly moving too fast to be sure!
I was trimming the rose bush in front of my house, because it was trying to grow into the house gutters, when a bird flew out of the tangle.
I was concerned there was a nest in the rose, but I couldn’t find it. I kept trimming. I pulled a large full branch down to find the nest was not in the bush, but on my house.
Sorry baby doves, you are very exposed now.
went to see the cherry blossoms, and were surprised by my first sighting of a Blackburnian warbler (sorry, no photos), a black throated blue warbler (ditto)
And then a rose breasted grosbeak showed up
Adobe Lightroom
Tried DxO PhotoLab Elite 8 for free for 30 days, and my trial expired a few days ago. This morning, I went through the process of creating a Capitol One virtual credit card, and getting a free 7 day trial of Adobe Lightroom. And then edited a few photos in Creative Cloud, before my friend helped me realize I should be using Classic, which is in fact not total trash
Still, I don’t like the subscription model. And de-noising generates extra files and takes a lot longer and isn’t as good as what DxO can do.
But I do like some aspects of the UI, in particular the cropping preview is excellent, and I like using the AUTO
tool for lighting as a great starting point.
Anywhere, I’ll try to share my favorite edits from the past several days.
The detail on the feathers is amazing.
Saw quite possibly my very first warbler, a yellow-rumped aka butter butt! Right here at home.
Then a trip to the park. Green heron!
green heron so charismatic, and the warblers are so challenging to get before they move off again
It was crazy. Earlier I recorded a Nashville warbler with Merlin!
I was penalized for not getting out my camera for the mourning doves, and then again for putting it away just before a very patient goldfinch
Northern Pintail
Bonaparte Gull
Sandpiper
Oriole
Egret
Went to a local “birding w/ friends” event this morning!
Heard warbling vireo, yellow warbler, great crested flycatcher. Saw cormorant. Photos of Eastern phoebe, tufted titmouse, red-eyed vireo, brown-headed cowbird, common grackle, and chimney swift.
Highlights:
The pose in that second one is excellent
So much sass!
Tree Swallow
Several times today, saw a greater egret and a red-winged blackbird together. I think mostly the blackbird was hassling the egret… but the green around the eyes against the red on the wings was exciting to see together.
A birder noticed this flicker in a nest/hole. Looks a bit like it’s enjoying the warmth of the sun…
I don’t have good birds here, so I love seeing your pictures.
