I can’t really “like” that status but I hope that we don’t get a Trump term but I don’t want it to be because people are dying and hungry
No shit. There is no good reaction in this situation generally. I keep reminding myself of that old saying, “It’s an ill wind that blows no one any good.” I’m just taking the silver lining (assuming it holds), because (gestures all around).
I came here to “sad post” about the election but remembered I have positive shit to share:
THREE of my friends ran for office - two against each other - and two of them cleared the primary runoff and are going out for the general. One for mayor, and one for a planning/regional government council role.
The two going through to the general campaigns have my other friend as a campaign manager - for both campaigns. HE GOT TWO FOLKS INTO THE GENERAL during the hardest ever election season where you couldn’t door knock, you couldn’t have rallies, you had to run everything from your bedroom. He’s gonna be tired.
The friend that BARELY missed making the runoff in the general (by less than 1000 votes to my other friend) - ran a pretty phenomenal campaign where he completely pivoted his volunteer team that would’ve done doorknocking into helping provide nutritional support for houseless people during the pandemic, getting 200+ sandwiches and masks out to folks experiencing homelessness every single day of lockdown (over 4,000 total!)
Also, we had our highest voter turnout statewide that we’ve ever had for a primary - 46.9%.
So Biden chose Kamala Harris. I honestly don’t know much about her, what do people think who have paid more attention than I have?
She’ll be a good campaigner, I’m not thrilled by her record as a prosecutor, and imma vote for her (and him).
He could have chosen a limp dishrag and it wouldn’t have stopped me from voting the Biden ticket.
Or an old yellow dog.
Agree that I was always voting against Trump, no matter who was on the ticket.
Harris was not my first pick for the prez nomination but this was about as exciting as Biden could make the ticket, for me. She’s somewhat moderate policy-wise, but her background as first African-American and first Asian-American? Pretty cool.
I hope it doesn’t become a situation where she does all the work while he does all the hand shaking and gets all the credit.
Still gonna vote for them.
Don’t shoot me but I just popped on to DJT twitter and saw the promo ad for Slow Joe and Phony Kamala.
The mudslinging has begun. Sigh.
83 more days plus 3 more for absentee ballot counting to go.
That took what? An hour? Can we just skip the next 82 days?
Reading tweets, especially from Voldemort, is definitely optional for the next 82 days.
Was reading tweets a non-optional activity previously? Because if so I have not been doing my homework.
It was already up for an hour by the time I saw it with 3 million views.
Old Yellow Dog 2024!
VP will have to be a cat (catnidate?) for the swing states.
My coworkers said they would’ve voted for “biden/wet, ripped piece of toilet paper” and “biden/that feeling you get when you go to pull of a paper towel section but it doesn’t make a clean rip”.
Either of those options would still win a debate against Pence.
Not American but watching with much interest. Ponder and I are excited that he did not choose a white dude. Might come in with thoughts from our media’s perspective as they get around to commentary on it.
Harris is going to tear Pence a new one and I’m here for it.
Yes, that will be fun to watch.
