Updating for end of Jan…got a couple things done

Don’t have the image on me so I’ll update textually. Prob gonna put it in a physical journal at some point.

Done (?)

  • Trying to figure out if build wood furniture was accomplished. I built a shitty stand to go in my shed. Does that count as furniture? I was thinking like a chair or bookshelf when I wrote the task.
  • Sent gift exchange gifts.
  • Went part-time.
  • Made not one, but SIX new Indian recipes.

In-progress:

  • Piggy bank cat rough draft done, but put not much effort into it and far from final form
  • Secret task roughly 1/5 done?
  • 100 countries in VTDM 3/100 ie very far behind

Likely next up:

  • Make chore chart
  • Use canner
  • Additional floor work. Basically have done nothing since 2020.

Considering changing for my 1 allowed board change:

  • TPID. I don’t know if I’ll care to before tax time.
  • Do someone else’s taxes. Just not feeling it.
  • Make cake, make cheesecake, make tamales or sushi. It’s not that I don’t want to do them, it’s that they are kinda easy and maybe I want something more challenging.

Gray is complete, blue is in progress. OK, OK, technically the sewing machine is not in my possession yet, but it’s in my sister’s possession and that’s basically the same thing, right?

Talk to me about your witchy books? I am curious. (Happy to take this to PM if that would be more comfortable.)

detailed progress
  • 3/52 books complete, numerous on the burners. They’re pretty much all old books, too, so I’m doing well on that goal, and one is a candidate year book.
  • Meditation/SoP; cardio is happening
  • I am listening to more music! this is joyous!
  • Have sent like… six or seven letters so far this year. I love it.
  • Almost finished one hat but lost a game of yarn chicken, so I’m starting over
  • Continuing Japanese and Spanish practice with some consistency; I do something most days.
  • Tracking spending is an easy gimme for the most part.
  • House fund will likely be funded in the next two or three months.

Not yet in progress: basically everything that’s an easy discrete one-off.

I am totally happy to talk about my witchy books!

I just have… a lot of witchy books and I need to read more of them. I’m not a hundred percent sure that I have 12 unread witchy books (I don’t have a specific list), but if I don’t I have at least another 12 on my wishlist.

My current read is The Cauldron Cill Brigid Devotional Anthology. I have another Brigid book by Morgan Daimler that will probably be next.

Those are ebooks; I have another few ebooks and a bunch of physical books as well, including Weave the Liminal and The Sacred Circle Tarot, which the wonderful @anon51297825 gave me for the OMD gift exchange!

Ooooo fun.

How is the devotional anthology? I feel like sometimes those are amazing and sometimes they are… lackluster.

It’s very good, especially for a free ebook! Like all anthologies, I find it inconsistent, but I have a lot of highlights and bookmarks, which is always a sign of a good nonfiction book. Some of the poem/prayers have definitely struck me right in my Goddess-loving heart.

The biggest drawback is that it’s a PDF and I used Calibre to reformat it as a mobi so there are page numbers in the middles of lines and other weird formatting issues

I might actually hit BINGO pretty soon, because I am nearly to my Duolingo goal, and another stimulus check will move the efund along quite nicely. I think I will just try to do as many squares as possible after I hit BINGO.

I decided to send all my friends Valentine’s Day cards, so that knocked out that square pretty fast. Now that I am in possession of adorable and cute stickers, I think I will keep sending my friends letters because it’s really fun, and I like to remind them that I love them.

Just filed my taxes and marked off my first square! A couple other of these are well on their way. I’ve attended 1 (Zoom!) book club discussion and have another scheduled at the end of the month. I have been actively working on pull-ups and making good progress, and I’m definitely on pace with City Fit Girls workouts and my Duolingo streak is live despite my recent phone woes. Mutual aid group participation also on track. A couple of these items I am already side-eyeing, but I want to wait and see how things play out as it feels early in the year for a goal overhaul.

Making some decent progress on mine! I’ve been inconsistent with “do x amount of thing” as to whether I’ve tracked partial completion, so I have made progress towards a few others as well.

I’ll probably finish the connecting with friends one pretty soon, but the others won’t be for a while, I think.

Excessive amount of detail

12 books by BIPOC authors: Goal 16.66% \ Actual 16.66% - on track
6 books by queer authors: Goal 16.66% \ Actual 50% - ahead (this is easier than I anticipated–there are so many authors I think are queer but don’t have any confirmation of that I thought it would be harder to find those who are out!)
6 indie published books: Goal 16.66% \ Actual 16.66% - on track
15 walks/hikes in the park: Goal 13.33% - Actual 0% - behind

Making good progress! Except I’ve definitely picked off the low-hanging fruit, so progress will slow way down :joy:

fine details
  • 7/52 books read, numerous on the burners as always
  • Meditation/SoP and cardio have both been extremely back-burnered during work craziness
  • Music listening: Getting so much more in the groove on this and it feels nice
  • 9/25 letters
  • 2/5 charity hats knit
  • 1/15 pre-2021 books read
  • 1/5 candidate year books read
  • 15/50 language hours
  • Spending tracking remains up-to-date
  • House fund at $2425/3000.

Everything I’ve worked on has been maintenance/long-term project stuff. Why do I find it so hard to do one-off discrete projects, you guys? WHY?
