My local newspaper had a Easter colouring contest for kids of any age including adults, and to post their finished pictures on their fb page.

We have the windows open. I heard happy kids in the distance earlier playing outside. I had lunch outside on our porch while my kid played with the hose instead of waiting on him to be done so we’d eat together (duh I don’t have to wait on him), then when he was eating I sat nearby (he likes for someone to be nearby even if we’re not directly interacting) but in a different room reading my steampunk romance novel. Today is a good day.

Cat watched the birds for a solid half hour this morning with rapt attention…and then ate her breakfast 
Thursday, bf was on a stressful call and locked her out of the office. To stop her crying, I brought her to a fuzzy blanket on the couch and petted agressively. She ended up staying all aftenoon and requesting additional pets by lifting her paw and reaching for me. Just like one of those “lucky cat” statues.

My cat loves “cat TV” and is often looking out the window this time of year. Sometimes she even goes into full-on stalking mode, coiling up her back legs like she’s going to try launching herself through the glass to pounce. Can’t remember if she ever made that mistake as a kitten or not, lol.

In other news: our nectarine tree that we thought was dead and cut back to a stump is growing back!! Even the originally tree for some reason only grew fruit on one branch and that branch was kind of sticking out to the road, we would have trimmed that branch back but, y’know, fruit. Need to find time to figure out how to trim the many shoots into a healthy future-tree.

I’m one those weirdos that usually finds dark themes harder on my eyes than the reverse.

On the tree, the regrowth may be coming from below the graft. Usually the rootstock will not produce very nice fruit but if that ends up the case you can experiment with top grafting a more desirable cultivar onto it once the tree has recovered.
