Yeah, mine was, uh, $450. Worth every penny, to me.

Also, I felt a bit of guilt after posting how many gadgets I own, but realized that I should have mentioned that I don’t use my oven. I live in older Class A motorhomes (i own 2, another story…) and the propane ovens don’t have electric ignition. I decided that at this point in my life I am not going to stick my head into an oven with a lighted long-nosed lighter and turn on gas. So, I’m attempting to find the most workable replacements.

I would feel like less of a hoarder after that comment other than the 2 motorhomes part…

OK so I’m plugging the book before I’ve decided where & to buy this, but a home fixit book by a fantastic trans woman I follow on IG who provides very good advice on how to fix stuff.

I have met Mercury Stardust personally but I didn’t know she was internet famous until later.

There are more illustrations vs photos inside, but I think it works well still! The tutorials/advice seemed very practical. My library purchased it & I flipped through it for a quick peek.

Anyone want to help me try to find a vacuum? Here’s my wish list:

Sticks style vacuum, or something that can easily upright do hard floors and carpet, but also do stairs, and upholstery. (Ie, multiple heads- most of these needs have been filled by a dyson stick vacc for me but our v7 is failing now)
Does well with pet hair and long human hair
HEPA filter preferred (this rules out several, but not all, of the dyson stick models)

Price matters less at this point but obviously a good sale and a good price are appreciated. I’m just overwhelmed by all the options and need this vacuum to do like 8 things and realize I’m high maintenance :joy:

I think wire cutter just did stick vacuums and the shark pet model was their pick?

It doesn’t convert to a small head does it? For stairs and upholstery and stuff?

There is a separate attachment that has a rotary head for handheld mode, at least there used to be, but it’s a separate purchase and kind of pricy (like $70 or something). I think about getting it periodically.

I second Cranky, Shark makes a good vacuum. We recently got this one on sale to replace a dying 10yo stick vac. Amazon.com Not sure if it’s exactly right for you, def sound alike you’d need the small head attachment. We love: anti wrap Brushroll (hair mgmt), storage mode, easy empty canister. Spouse noticed the filter around the motor is replaceable.

Some of the Sharks (the one at Costco) don’t convert to a hand vac so keep an eye out.

I got a tineco stick vac 2nd hand about a year ago. I can’t claim it’s the best thing ever, but it does handle my hair + my high-shed cat pretty well. I do have to pull my hair out of the roller about every 6 months, and I don’t have carpet but it cleans the front door carpet pretty well. I’m 60% sure it’s HEPA, or they make one that is. If it’s on sale, I find it a good value.

They’ve held up pretty well, some slight pilling on the inside thighs of one pair after two and a half years of wear, usually once or twice a week in cooler weather. Every time I put on a pair of pants that doesn’t have a pocket to fit my phone I get grumpy now though

I listen to her podcast. It’s a dream listen for a fix it nerd who doesn’t always have the energy to fix the things (me).

I would love some recommendations on:

  1. Baby doll accessories
  2. Barbie type dolls that have some amount of diversity in size, shape, occupation, etc
  3. A dollhouse that would be OK in an apartment. I’m halfway tempted to just go a bit big on it though so it’s easy to play with for years.

Our play kitchen is on the taller side and it has lasted and still gets lots of play.

My kid love’s baby doll bottles and diaper kits. Some examples:

We inherited a homemade dollhouse from my childhood that gets a little bit of play, but she adores the little people dollhouse (at 3yrs)

IKEA also has a compact cool looking dollhouse (and a separate baby doll bed)

If you’re open to something more multifunctional, any shelf (or box) can be a great dollhouse! I’m thinking of IKEA KALLAX but maybe one with open sides is better for collab play. Can be decorated for extra realism or just add furniture and let imagination do the rest!
