My executive function is currently zero and I want to spend stimulus money and acquire goods.
Please help me:
Find a AAPI or Black owned book store that ships within the US. Ideally local to the Pacific Northwest.
Pick 4-5 board books featuring BIPOC characters. Ideally with good rhythm and not too many words.
Legit if someone can just provide me links, I’ll go add to cart and spend money. I’ve just been trying to do this for a couple weeks and it keeps not happening. (I haven’t even managed to order the VERY SPECIFIC SHOES I want to order. I have them bookmarked. I know my size. Nothing is stopping me. Hoping the book order and sitting down and doing it all at once will just push me to Do Shit).
Thank you so much. I kept trying to save lists and losing tabs and just… yeah, not being a functional human right now. Plus I’m getting so overwhelmed when I do find multiple choices. Ughhhh.
I need a container with a sturdy lid that is large enough to reach into to play with kinetic sand, without me needing to get out a cookie sheet, but shallow enough that little hands can reach in easily and won’t be tempted to take the sand out to be able to play.
Has anyone seen anything like that recently?
I might try a cake carrier, but I want it bigger than that, but smaller than an under bed box.
If anyone knows other Indian (from India) books- I’d love the recommendation. Our kids love reading Thread of Love.
Our neighbors are Indian, and the only non-white people in our neighborhood, so I think seeing people who look like them in books would be good for our kids. Iowa is VERY white, so I want minorities to be “normal”, and not rare…
It’s not explicit but I suspect the main character in “I will be Fierce” may be of South Asian descent. Either way, it’s an AMAZING book which I highly highly recommend. There’s a LOT of diverse characters in it and the main character is going through a school day pumping herself up while also embracing her interests, defending kids from bullies, and more.
Nice joggers from an ethical brand that isn’t using Uigher labor and that are nice enough to wear to a casual office when we open things back up? Green or blue?
I don’t really think either of those brands necessarily hit the ethical mark either, but I’m currently a non-pregnant person with only pocketless maternity leggings to wear so I’m starting to get a bit desperate.
update: I tried poshmark and it has a bunch of people selling barely used AG sweats and saying they stretch out to be like the next size up so I’m thinking about either keeping the ones I have that seem just a touch too small or getting some on poshmark (which is how I usually hit the “ethical” thing).
In the market for a dust mop, to be primarily used for quickly picking up pet hair tumbleweeds throughout the week so I can save vacuuming for the weekends. I have a decades old Swiffer that I suppose could work, but I’m interested in an item that isn’t made of plastic so it doesn’t look like trash propped in a corner, and ideally has reusable/washable pads. Or should I just do the “mustachian” thing and slap a microfiber on the Swiffer?
I would like a coffee grinder that changes grind size. I’m not necessarily opposed to the hand powered ones, especially since it seems absurd to me that automatic ones are $$$ but I already have one where you hold it down for more seconds to get a finer grind and I don’t like it. Is burr grinding really so much better? Coffee snobs tell me your secrets!
I have a Cuisinart burr grinder and I really like it. I’ve had it for about 10 years and it still works great! I think it was $50 when I got it? It really is so much better than the regular grinders I used before, and for the price it felt like a worthy upgrade.
We had the Cuisinart electric grinder (I think Costco sells?) for quite a few years and it’s good but it is INSAENLY LOUD especially after a couple years. That was my main complaint. We now have a Barratza Encore cuz we’re coffee snobs
James Hoffman has a YoutTube channel that makes coffee very accessible and also his hair is amazing like Tan France and his voice and cinematography is incredibly soothing. Highly recommend.
