It is time for a new oven. I have a potential replacement in mind for pretty much every appliance we have except for the oven. The oven that came with our house is pretty bad. It is very uneven, doesn’t seem to have any function other than turbo fan bake, we’ve repaired it once when we should have replaced it and now it won’t heat at all. I think the time has come to get a new one.

But what the heck is going on with ovens. There are 1000 features. Some have airfrying functions? Pyrolytic? Steam ovens? Should I want any of that? The thing I want most is an oven that heats evenly with an option not to blast a cake with hot air?

I don’t know if the industry terms vary between countries, but I definitely swear by convection ovens. That’s basically when there’s a fan that blows everything around in a nice little circles in it so that everything heats evenly and efficiently.

Fan forced oven. I can take a picture of ours, if that helps, @Pancakes? I plan on keeping it when we renovate. It does heat a bit more in the back left corner but is easy to work around it.

Does anyone have advice about heavier duty outdoor coats, ideally that are popular enough that I could get one used, that I can find in smaller sizes for women? Ideally in petite, but I might be dreaming too big. Thinking something down or down-adjacent, good in 20-40 F degree weather, that I can wear to walk my dog but also to a casual restaurant in Denver.

I know there are petite ladies out there that can pull off kids/teens sizing (I live with one of them), but it looks goofy on my proportions, unfortunately.

Tagging @Meowmalade who I know is a coat pro!

What size are you? I have a Pajar Queens and I love it! I’m 5’2" and the sleeves are long but they have this stitching that it doesn’t look weird pulled up. Also the coat runs small, normally I wear a medium in clothes but a small in coats and I had to get a medium in this coat. Could have even gone to a large if I wanted to wear a bulky sweater!

Thanks! Depending on the brand, either XXS or XS. Or a medium at Lululemon, lol. I am tiny shouldered.

I’ve never tried shopping at Lululemon but now I think I must be an XL there :joy:

Here’s an XS but no returns on Poshmark… I’ll keep an eye out at the Sierra physical store and see I find any in a smaller size!

Also looks like that one is real fur (I see the Sagafur tag). The ones at Sierra are faux fur trim.

Thanks! I’ll check out their sizing chart. And thanks for offering to keep an eye out!

I’m 5’2" and I adore my LL Bean coat. I have a 3/4 length and with the two-sided zip it fits my proportions well. (I’m an XL in their sizing I think?) Some of their coats are probably warmer than your target of 20-40 degrees though…

ETA if you use their live chat the support people at LL Bean can give you more detailed sizes for each item, including how much ease there is in the bust / waist / hip.

Looks accurate, based on my sample size of 1!

I’m petite and slim and I like Columbia and Outdoor Research the best for fit, the latter especially makes really slim designs. I also have long arms, though, so if you don’t you might want to figure that in.

Cleaning spray update!

I went to a grocery store with a decent supply of cleaning sprays. I sniffed a few and bought the green method spray (seemed strong in the store, and they were out of pink) and the green Mrs. Meyers (smelled better than method in the store)

At home the method is WAY too perfumey but fades fast, it’s living in my kitchen.

The mrsm Meyers smell is more natural and I like it better, but it’s way stronger and lingers - it’s in my bathroom and the purple Mrs. Meyers is in the boys bathroom that I use the least.

Mrs. Meyers is too stinky but works. Method is reasonably effective and doesn’t linger.

I will check refills out at zero waste store if I’m still not up to making my own cleaner in a few months

I don’t understand why they don’t have an unscented option!

I want an inflatable hot tub. I know a few folks on here have them. What recommendations do y’all have?

My restrictions: needs to plug into a normal 110v outlet and preferably on the smaller side, 2 person hot tub ok, 4 person possibly better. Under $1,000. If it has a good cover even better.

Did @noitsbecky have one??

I have the Saluspa Hawaii and I’ve been really happy with it. It’s bigger than you want but We bout it for around $300 and then added Reflectix and something like this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Mind-Reader-Mind-Reader-Locking-Puzzle-Fitness-and-Exercise-Mat-EVA-Foam-Puzzle-Mat-for-Home-Gyms-Interlocking-Protective-Floor-Tiles-MMA-Mat-Set-of-4-Black/1003195590?cm_mmc=shp--c--prd--app--bng--PLA_APP_118_Refrigerators-Freezers--1003195590--Online--0-_-0&gclsrc=ds for added insulation around the pump and hot tub (including under the hot tub and around it - cinched on with webbed straps). We bought some extra inflatable bladders and a tarp to increase the insulation of the hot tub lid, and all in it was probably about $600 including that and chemicals?

We’ve been really really happy with ours, but have only had it 4 months.

I missed the last discussion but we’ve started water with a half pump of unscented dish soap for most of our cleaning needs. It’s great at getting grease spots in the kitchen and around the high chair splash zone without damaging the wood floors or leaving any residue.

This sounds good. I laugh at the not damaging floors  ours are laminate and even a single duplo bash leaves a dent. The floor will be very weathered and then replaced. I think dishsoap and water will work for the kitchen, and then the downstairs bathroom (no cabinet, cleaner stored in kitchen) can get the stinky spray.

I have a Coleman SaluSpa. It’s great!

Seconding LL Bean! My down coat is so warm! And I don’t know if it comes in petite but I mean… it fits? It never occurred to me to want a petite coat. I want my coat to be long and keep my legs warm. It doesn’t do that, but it keeps my butt warm.
