The problem with in person at home depot or lowes is that they carry lower quality versions of Kohler/etc.
If you have a bath/kitchen store or a Kohler store I would choose that over a home improvement store to test in person.

I’ve been told exactly this by multiple plumbers.
Moen. They completely maintain that warranty, even if you don’t have a receipt (we were not the original purchasers, it came with the house, and they still got the part to us).
My 50+ year old delta tub faucet valve got replaced by them. I was so impressed.
Some of these companies operate like it’s the pre- planned obsolescence period.
Kohler has never asked me for a receipt when I need parts. Great to hear that all of these big names do this!
Thanks for the advice, everyone! Shortly after I discussed this with my husband we drove past a Kohler store (never would have noticed without this conversation—indeed, I’ve driven past it many times and never did) so I guess that’s where we’re going ![]()
Before you have major sticker shock at the store (the retail price for my kitchen faucet went up $300 since 2017, yikes!), here are a few eBay open box ones. They’re still quite expensive but the Artifacts line is the one I got. I love the berry wash setting! Make sure it’s the right size and what you’re looking for though, some of them are bar faucets and not full size kitchen ones.
Has separate sprayer:

A good check to make sure that it’s a high quality line (aside from price tag!) is whether it’s sold at Ferguson.
We just replaced a bathroom faucet at my parents house over the holidays with a koler faucet from home Depot that we bought in person. I was surprised by how many of the parts were plastic for how expensive it was, though I’m sure it will be fine and is way better than the old one that leaked. Defs recommend going the open box route if possible for higher quality/longevity.
Does anyone have toilet paper hacks to save on wastage/roll theft? I am looking at commercial dispensers and wondering if there is a less extreme solution. Or a best home commercial dispenser
No, I do not. Don’t live with boys? I live with one boy and I am constantly shocked at how quickly we go through a roll. I don’t know what he’s doing in there, I don’t want to know. But it’s something all right, and I buy the expensive TP because I’m a little princess. I’d put cheaper stuff in his bathroom but will he use his bathroom? No, for some reason he’s always in mine.
Do you have enough room in your personal space to store TP? I used to live in an apartment with zero storage space in the bathroom, so I kept my bulk order of TP on the floor of my clothes closet in my bedroom. I imagine it would cut down on the roll theft, if not the wastage?
So it’s my own children, and they take the roll off and flush it, or take it elsewhere to play with it (saving the tubes of course). They don’t have access to new rolls generally, but we are unclogging at least one toilet per day and then I am getting out new rolls so we can be clean.
Even when they aren’t wasting it for fun, it’s like @Ivy says…they just use so much. And the bidet is a squirt gun
Edit:but yes your solution is clutch for adult roommates
Sounds like intentional misuse rather than a skills issue? For the latter I have seen a tip to put painters tape on the wall indicating an appropriate amount for 1 wipe.
Can you set a slightly-higher-than-reasonable cadence of roll replacement and threaten to resort to “family cloths” if it runs out? The kids would be required to wash them, under your supervision, of course. (I intend this as a scare tactic not an actual life strategy.)
Or hold a very embarrassing remedial course in a$$ wiping and indicate it will be held regularly unless TP stops disappearing.
Issue everyone their own roll to avoid the Tragedy of the Commons.
Put a box/basket to collect tubes for play/crafts (no harm in that if TP is used legitimately)
Get cheap single ply for crafts and games (but it must go in trash!)
Just brainstorming.
Thanks! Looking at feedback for equipment not skills/behaviour! Also not looking to deal with pipes full of cloth!
When there is a repeated pain point with kids and you’ve tried setting normal limits, sometimes you need to change things or you are just making life worse. Like if my kids have had 3 timeouts in an hour, we need to go to bed or go outside. We’re at/past that point in toilet paper and it’s a bit cold to poop outdoors and in bed is a hard no.
I think I’m buying at least one dispenser, will update all on the experience. Still hoping for a less fugly solution!
You can buy tube-less rolls, if the tubes are part of the allure.
Ther is also a rocker type of tp holder that only lets you pull a few sheets off at a time. https://www.reddit.com/r/assholedesign/comments/b7ok19/this_toilet_paper_holder_that_only_allows_for_12/
It’s not any more attractive, but might slow the rate at which the tp can be pulled?
My other thought was to pre-dispense a few helpings in appropriate amounts and keep in a basket/kid-accessible location, with the remaining tp at a height only adults can reach, but keeping up with that might be too much/might not be feasible to keep it out of kids reach.
That actually looks a lot more reasonable! Thank you!
That’s quite brilliant
Ooh I’ve seen those at public toilets here! Definitely slows down the kids
Also we are on tge same wavelength and yes, failures to keep on top of dispensing (sorry guests) and now failure to have anywhere high enough due to growing and climbing feral people.
