This and what madgeylou suggested were the kind of mauve/pink I had in mind ![]()
Wasn’t someone on this forum looking for a puffer, and considering the Quince one? Just got an email that the price is $50 off today.
High chairs. I was going to get one a couple months ago, and started looking into them, and suddenly everything was all adjustable this and foot support that and I may have melted down and closed my browser.
Usability and safety are most important, then price, then aesthetics.
My kids were not good eaters and the experts told me that foot support was important, so I made sure to get that. We have two keekaroo chairs and they have been great. Now being used by 8 and 5 year olds. Stokke tripp trapp is a more expensive version. Both of these brands can be acquired for big discounts on the used market.
I lurrrrrve my bloom high chair. They are so pricey but I got mine on marketplace for $150ish (it was retailing at $600). But you can put an infant in it, it’s kind of cool looking, and we’ve been using it consistently for 6+ years now. My 4 year old still eats all meals there, and it can go up to counter height and down to table height. If I didn’t love it so much though…I just wouldn’t care? They’re all safe and functional these days it seems like.
I have an IKEA high chair and an Etsy foot rest. Easy to clean and not too expensive.
I know there are some big fans here of the Tripp Trapp, and I affirm their lived experience. I will say members of my local moms group who bought them universally hate them, myself included. If Tripp Trapp has zero haters I am dead etc etc. Can give a longer review or talk through details if you want, but I am a strong no Tripp Trapp recommender.
One more thought, anecdote is not data etc: my kid choked (not gagged!) in a trip trap and has been totally fine in the IKEA high chair with no foot rest that he’s used outside of our house.
I love our tripp trapp (an also acknowledge Bern’s hatred for it). We do still use it so the price has been worth it (4 years of use and going strong, it still looks like new even though we eat 2+ meals in it each day).
I think it’s like everything else though…it’s easy to go down the rabbit hole of finding the perfect item but most things, even the cheapest will be just fine for this short phase of life. I know people with all different choices of highchair and all of their kids seem pretty great.
Love the cheapest IKEA. Loving the idea that etsy has accessories.
Knowing my 5yo and almost 3yo I could have gone back and made different choices, but I didn’t have that info and I love the direction I went with! It’s also cheap enough that if something else became really important I could modify or replace. Our OT and grandOT prefer modding existing stuff most of the time because temporarily perfect may not adjust as they grow
Yes, the footrest I have is adjustable. And was maybe the same price as the highchair, so like $25. The cheap ikea also works well pushed up the dining table.
We also did that, ikea high chair - no footrest baby 1, yes cheap etsy type footrest baby 2. And then bought some cheap locally made toddler chairs so the kids could sit at the dining table, i think like $100AUD each with adjustable seat height and footrest height and both kids (4, nearly 8) are still using them. Older kid is almost sized for an adult chair at the dining table now, so that worked well.
No!
I apologize for their continued growth!
I know we keep saying IKEA high chair, I think we’re all talking about this one: ANTILOP high chair with tray, white/silver color - IKEA
Yep thats the one
We have two keekaroo chairs and for some reason their resale values are lower compared to the Tripp trapp. I bought one without the tray and seatbelt for $40 off of fb marketplace and then later bought a second with the tray and seatbelt for $80 off of fb.
Definitely helped with reducing mess for the bigger kid because he could sit closer to the table. 2 year old uses her keekaroo without tray for coloring but sits in a hand-me-down graco high chair for eating because she gets mad* and slams her head back, and the Graco is padded
.
*During dinner she constantly asks for “that” and you only get 1 wrong guess because the second wrong guess triggers a tantrum
We bounced straight to a booster with a tray that straps onto regular chairs. Ravioli was swimming in high chairs lol. Just offering an alternative!!
We tried one of these and the base seemed too wide to sit on our dining chairs properly. So definitely do a quick measure first!
lol we’ve got American Butts
