I am looking for a walking pad, I know @Economista and @mountainmustache29 have one, is there a specific one you would recommend?

I think Econ has the same brand as mine (WalkingPad) but a different model…I have the P1, but I think it’s discontinued. I went with the one that had the longest deck, which I definitely recommend because the decks on walking pads are all quite a bit shorter than a standard treadmill, and if they are too short it will mess with your stride.

Yeah I have the walking pad brand C2 model. I have not had any problems with the deck being too short for my stride. I’m 5ft 6.5in. I got that model because I needed the front to be short enough to fit under my desk, which only had a 5in clearance. I love it!

Did you consider any cheaper pads, like the GoPlus 2 in 1?

I’ve been texting Econ about it and it sounds like she reasonably needed one for a lot of use, but I don’t think I’d be as hard on mine. My use case would be 30ish mins here and there, not the work day. I can’t decide if the extra sturdiness is worth a few hundred dollars!

I did! I have a coworker who has one of those GoPlus ones, and it lasted about 1.5 yrs for her, walking like 20,000 steps a day, every single day. So I think your use case would be perfect for that option! I ended up deciding against it because the deck was too short (I’m 5’10" and have a super long stride) and I like the foldable option of the WalkingPad brand

This is where I’m at!

I’m currently walking laps around the house at night for about a half hour - does a half hour of walking warrant the pricier walking pad? Also I have the space that I don’t need it to fold. But also - that is a pretty sweet feature.

I know there are some Hoka fans on the forums. They are clearancing out their old model Bondi for $115 right now, which is a pretty great deal considering they almost never go on sale. Just wanted to give a heads up!

Trying to decide if I should get another blanket/coverlet for the guest bed to swap it out when the cat pukes (sadly often). I’m kind of specific on appearance/texture because it’s 50% of the view in my office, and we nap on it.

Alternatively could use ratty old blanket as a thickening/protective layer under the one I have (and like). And risk either the fleece, muslin, or sheets during laundering.

Long-term alternative could be to thrift (and then wash on hot)? I want something thin enough to launder easily, not comforter or quilt. But maybe thick enough to protect sheets… And again, very particular on Looks. (Beige/earth/water/plants palette)

Offender tax (+ blanket)

They are very nice! Quite light weight, which is what I wanted. The pockets have a really wide opening that I was worried about, but they are quite deep even in the women’s, so my phone hasn’t fallen out of my pocket yet.

What’s a good place to shop for a child’s comforter or duvet cover?

Duvet cover: absolutely IKEA. For kids and adults. But especially kids. Get 3 sets for stomach bugs, fevers, and accidents.

Inserts, we use all sorts with our IKEA duvet covers, from TJMaxx or Target polyester comforters to fleece blankets to silk comforters (spouse got Vesta brand but there are other choices. It’s a splurge but very cozy and some are washable). I found IKEA down to be very crinkly and loud, but haven’t tried their poly fill, and overall YMMV? People have different preferences for bedding.

I have a spare insert! But the children’s bedding section at my IKEA is being renovated or something? They didn’t have any kid’s duvet covers when I was there :slightly_frowning_face:

Oh that’s so annoying! My nibbling has the cutest comforter cover from Ikea! Order online? Alternately, it looks like Target has some cute kids options?

speaking of comforters / duvets …

i’ve been considering a new duvet but my husband is a little allergic to down, and i don’t really like the down alternatives because they make me feel hot.

does anyone have experience with silk-filled or wool duvet inserts? i’m contemplating one of these:

@Smacky wool duvet?

Absolutely love my wool duvet (actually I have two now, a summer weight and a winter weight). I got them from Woolroom and put linen covers on them (Pottery Barn has really nice ones and you can find open box customer returns on eBay). The temperature regulation is real!

I have a wool filled duvet. It’s heavy and gives me the satisfaction of a weighted blanket, and is very warm but breathes, and I love it. The hutterites near me (similar to Amish) make them by hand. In summer I don’t use it.

It’s very hard to wash. I have to fill the bathtub and wash and rinse it over and over, stomping it clean like it’s grapes. It gets too heavy to lift when wet so drying it is hard. I only wash it once a year because of this.

Are you absolutely set on a duvet? I have linen sheets, a wool middle blanket (we only add for winter), and a cotton quilt. I am a HOT sleeper who also sometimes gets cold toes. Thanks to my brain meds and genetic poor circulation for that I guess. But this combo breathes, is soft, and is appropriate for the weather changes in Chicago. We can wash the sheets and top quilt, and air out the wool blanket when needed (like Smacky says, gets hard to wash and dry something that holds so much water when wet).
