I need to make my Christmas list for my in laws secret santa and I’m so behind.

I want joggers/yoga pants/light sweatpants, thin cotton ones with pockets. I had a pair I stole from Mr Darling that I can’t find that were perfect that I think were from old navy but since I need new ones I’d prefer somewhere a bit more ethical? The issue is that the price limit is like $35-50 so squaring that with ethically made might be impossible.

Help!

what about the second hand websites? would your ILs buy from there?

Given the timeline and the amount of effort that I am going to invest, that’s too much to ask. Unfortunately

I use Foca biodegradable powder detergent, which has a lot of enzyme cleaners in it, and I think my laundry gets clean. We don’t even have the hot water hooked up to our washing machine. But it has a very faint scent, which may be a deal breaker.

For anyone who is interested but hates scents, I find that using vinegar as rinse aid gets rid of them.

I’m not entirely sure if Quince is for-real or if they’re “green-washing” but it’s in your budget and I’ve been finding their quality to be decent.

Can I request, no more laundry feedback that’s not unscented laundry detergents that are designed for cold water? Thank you! That’s the info I am looking for and will use.

My 3 seconds of research suggested green washing, but I might use them anyway

(Basically extreme lack of definition of what an “ethical factory” means or how they audit them for others who are interested)

I just realized that to get them to buy me pants I’d have to tell the entire extended family my pant size.

I will buy them myself, expensive recommendations are welcome

Have you tried Tide Hygienic Clean laundry detergent? It comes in a free version without any perfumes.

I found the laundry podcast I listened to a couple years ago and they specifically mentioned this product as working well in cold water–they said it performed better or tied its competitors in all but one type of stain (they used the Tide Hygenic Clean in cold water but to test the competitors, they washed in warm water, not cold).

The bottle doesn’t call out cold water, but does say works in all machines and water conditions

I have those in cranberry! Comfy.
The Roya leggings are even softer.
The joggers are actually a bit fancy and in a bit for of a slick fabric vs. sweatshirt type material.

ETA pockets vary from style to style

I ordered these and am happy to report back if anyone is interested (only sizes up to XL unfortunately, but the universal standard ones were basically sold out in most sizes and colors):

Same!

I asked my mom what my grandma would like for Christmas. Grandma is 90 years old. My mom suggested she could use a nice pair of comfy lounge pants.

My budget is, like, $35. I could just grab something at Target but I wondered if any of y’all happen to have bought some particularly comfortable lounge pants recently?

I got this super cute and cozy lounge set at Walmart last month.

Warning: the white ones are a smidge see through.

I love the lounge pants at Aerie, especially their OTT wide leg and the cozy trouser. They were near $50 in store a few weeks ago, but I got an emails saying the whole store is 50% right now so they’ll be in budget.

I really love the Kindred Bravely joggers but they’re like 42 bucks.

Opinions requested on my coffee and tea situation. My goal is the way to make tea and coffee taking up the least space and the least $. I am about to move into a kitchen with the smallest amount of counter space ever. I enjoy coffee and tea but do not have a sophisticated palate. I will not notice small quality differences.

I dumpster dive and have easy access to months worth of K-cups and ground coffee, so I am not worried about the price of coffee or the environmental effect of K-cups. I don’t pay for them and they are in the trash whether I use them or not. I currently have the Walmart brand Keurig style machine. (A value at $20). I also have an electric kettle I use for tea. And I will have a microwave.

I’ve gone back and forth on what to do. I’m thinking about getting rid of the kettle and coffee maker and using the microwave plus a pour over cone I could stick in a drawer. Hopefully one with a metal reusable filter. I used to make cold brew in 1/2 gallon glass jars, so I could go back to that, too.

Any opinions or experience with this dilemma?

A pour over cone makes great coffee and fits almost anywhere.
My kettle lives on my stove and so takes no counter space. It makes coffee, tea, ramen, etc.
In your shoes that’s what I would do. Kettle, cone, done.
