I dragged Husband over to look at book nooks while we were at Booksamillion yesterday.
Yes please I want to build tiny garden houses with soft light that will serve only to decorate my shelves.

We recently succumbed to Instagram marketing and got a GiBoard (small indoor slack line on a board) for Pipsqueak’s birthday. So far it’s been a lot of fun and everyone in the family is using it. It has even cut down on a little bit of aimless scrolling because I hop on it while Pipsqueak is playing independently and I need to be nearby but not actively engaged.
(@Bracken_Joy and @Economista I feel like this would be popular in your similarly gross motor focused households lol).
I am asking for a laser printer since I don’t use a printer very much any more (now that I’m retired) and the ink jet one kept getting dried out. I’ve been without one for over a year now and it’s been a little inconvenient. If anyone has any suggestions, they are much appreciated!
Just get the cheapest Brother laser printer you can find. They are all tanks and last forever
Yep, got my Brother black/white laser printer in graduate school years ago when I did need to do a ton of printing, and I still occasionally plug it in to print a shipping label.
Thirding the Brother recommendation. We went from ink jet to Brother laser printer, zero regrets.
Thanks for the Brother recommendations - I had read it was a good choice and great to have confirmation from good sources!
We need to replace our futon mattress. Any recommendations? I’m sure I’ll wait for Black Friday deals to actually purchase, but it would be nice to know what to keep my eye on.
I’m glad to see this topic. I’ve been using Sync for my data backups, and I’m shopping other cloud storage services. I’m on Mac and my husband has PCs. We are paperless as much as possible, and we have large libraries of ebooks, videos, music, and ugh so many photographs.
Does anyone have an electronic door lock? I want something that won’t require a key and will be auto relock when the door is closed. I started looking and the internet was like “this wifi enabled lock has an app and all these fancy settings!!” which is way beyond what I want. I strongly suspect we’ll go with no wifi/app.
We have used Schlage for about 10 years and they work very well. Never locked out again! We do have them connected to our Smart Home system, but the locks we have worked great before we started using an app on our Smart phones. Nowadays, I can check to see if the doors are locked without getting out of bed, which is great because master bedroom is the third floor. If you do get to the point where you want to do this, it’s the same as connecting any other device to wifi.
Good luck!
I have several electric locks that aren’t wifi capable. The one on my front door has worked perfectly for five years. My kids don’t carry keys and my friends let themselves in when I’m stuck in bed.
I’ve also installed them at friends’ houses.
Any big brand for locks is fine.
I have a Schlage and I really love it! I think I got it at Costco…It does have an app, but I only use it in anxious moments when I’m in bed and have convinced myself that I forgot to lock the door. It’s just so convenient to be able to make codes for friends or dog sitters, and never have to bring a key anywhere!
We have the basic not connected schlage. You have to lock it manually, it doesn’t auto lock, but it’s also not connected to the Internet and it works really well and I love it.
We have a Yale with Bluetooth but not wifi. I don’t have auto lock turned on, but it’s an option that you can set through the app (sigh, yes, I installed the app - turns out I like giving different codes to different visitors).
Friend Contractor also recommends Schlage. He has a client who was like NO WIFI and that’s what they got.
A friend is going through a really hard time right now, and I want to send a nice care package. I have a few regional snacks I want to send, but what kind of other nice indulgent things would be fun to receive in a care package? I don’t do a lot of self care stuff (like beauty stuff) so I don’t know what’s out there, but she really likes that kind of stuff…I’d love any fun ideas or things you’d want to receive!
Bath salts or bath bombs, body scrubs, there are these packages with single-use face masks that I’ve received as a gift. Those sound like very self-care spa kind of items!
I will second the face masks and there are ones for feet as well. Plus lotion and body scrubs. Maybe add in some herbal tea and a snack. Would make a nice spa night!
Doordash or Prime Video gift cards to complete the relaxing evening vibes?
