It’s so frustrating when so many words fit the same pattern, so you are just guessing. (Like the tweet someone shared above where the person didn’t get it, but had 4 letters right the whole way down.)

If you don’t flip hard mode on, you might want to spend your first 3 turns with 15 different letters!
For example
LEARN kkkYk
MISTY Ykkkk
COUGH kYYkY
Where k = black / not found, Y = yellow, G = green (but none here). So after that series you have all 5 letters just out of order. And if you are confident after 1 or 2 turns you can switch to full on guesses, too!
With hard mode enabled, you’re not allowed to skip any letters you’ve already identified though!

I don’t use hard mode, and using different letters is my usual strategy, while also trying to place at least one of what I have. It’s just once I got the last 4…it was pretty frustrating.

Yup didn’t think I was telling you anything you don’t know, other than you can take it an extra turn or so to (hopefully) avoid guessing a single letter a bunch of times. 
But then the temptation when you already have 4… is to finish it off. sigh

I was lucky that I had already ruled out at least one of the letters that could have gone first. This one was tough I thought!
I usually use a combo strategy where sometimes I try to use at least some of the letters that I know are in it to test placement, but maybe not all of them so that I can test more letters.

Generally I’ve been using a strategy where, after my first two guesses, I try to come up with words that would match what I know so far. This morning I was in a hurry so just guessed things that came into my mind, and missed a couple of cues that the word I was thinking of was not consistent with the information I had so far.
I did better this afternoon on dordle. Just before I got each answer, I could only think of one word that fit the information so far. Usually there isn’t just one word, I just can’t think of others, but this time I ultimately went with the only words I could think of and both times it was the answer.
