I got my flu shot from my GP!
Well we fuckin TRIED today. Asshole pharmacist. Nothing on their website and their sign said “due to (busy, basically) appointments are recommended”. So we were like “oh that’s fine, no one is here today it’s early we’ll check”. We got talked down to SO much about how they’re ONLY taking appointments and we should KNOW they’re busy what with the boosters and just… wow both people there were being massive dicks. If I was vaccine hesitant about the flu jab, that alone would have chased us off the experience. Who wants to be condescended to, when THEIR posted info contradicts what they’re saying?
Jesus Christ we’re having bad luck with medical experiences lately.
We’ll try again next week once we understand SirB’s work schedule.
I got mine today and my husband got his too. We don’t get out much these days so it was a nice date.
The boys and I got ours on Monday and then we treated ourselves to Dairy Queen! I miss being able to do it at Target–Kaiser is less festive. But it’s done.
We’ve come a long way from the time maybe 3 years ago when BB had to be restrained by a large male nurse. They seemed to think I could hold him down, but I was not strong enough. (BB was like 7? A thrashing 7 year old is pretty strong.) He still doesn’t like them but now he can offer up his arm.
My work is having a clinic on Tuesday morning Now I just have to remember to schedule appointments for the kids!
Saaame. Mine had a table out front with a single very harriedbut still nice NP.
I went to Trader Joe’s and got chips and green juice.
That’s amazing for BB!
(At 5-6yo it took a nurse, doctor, grandma and my mum to hold me down for a needle when I was sick. A terrified 5 year old is pretty strong even when horribly ill)
Just got mine along with the covid booster! Let’s see if my arm falls off.
Just got my flu shot! Milking my current job’s benefits before I leave lololol
Parents/others- to get my Tot’s shot, we’ll need to go to her pediatrician. She does not reliably mask. We’ll be going for a well child visit in… 7 weeks? She’s not in daycare or anything, we’ll get our shots soon, relatives she sees have their flu shot, flu hasn’t hit here yet. It is sensible to wait for that well child visit to minimize her covid exposure, right? There’s always other people in the waiting room, it’s low ceilings, and it’s a mixed ages clinic although her specific waiting room is peds only. But we go through a common area to get there.
We’re planning on combining the well visit and flu shot, which reminds me I need to get that scheduled since they should have their flu shots in now. Supposedly they were going to call me but that was supposed to be end of September.
I’m considering taking Kiddo with me when I get my flu shot but if I do it at Target he’s going to want to buy things (which is fine but I don’t have the emotional energy to deal with the expectations management involved), CVS will be similar but maybe better because fewer things to buy? Grocery store could work but has a lot more traffic than if we hit a CVS first thing Saturday morning or something. This is mainly as prep for his covid shot since he usually gets FluMist in his nose for his flu shot.
Yep we’re going to take Latte for our shots so she sees us get shots in advance of her appointment. we go to target every few weeks though, ours is huge and when we go pretty empty, so it’s one of the only indoor things I feel safe doing with her right now. She’s remarkably good at leaving without buying special things though. Probably because she’s still an age where carrying the mini packs of wipes and helping me scan them is Very Big and Important Work.
(Also- got SirB and I scheduled for Sunday!)
I think you’re fine. Flu shots are A Good and Protect Society and everyone should get them. But each individual shot is only a small contribution, plus she doesn’t go much anywhere around the unvaxxed.
We’re waiting for a well visit in ~4 weeks for the flu shot. It doesn’t seem worth the extra exposure risk from being in the office. I need to get mine this weekend and remind extended family that they need to do this to keep seeing her too.
Okay. I just wanted a sanity check on my reasoning.
Just got it!
DONE.
And the target CVS coupons this year are $5 off $20 or more
I mentioned this to Kiddo at bed time tonight and he very seriously said that if it didn’t work (if I get too scared) we can try again the next day, and if I’m brave and get the shot he’ll get me a special treat like a chocolate chip cookie. So obviously now I have to. I mean I was going to anyway, but y’know. And then I have to figure out how not to die on the spot of cuteness.
I’m saddened by this. For years I’ve been getting my shot across town at the Target CVS instead of the down-the-street regular CVS just for that sweet $5 off $5 Target coupon (when the CVS one has long been $5 off $20). I guess I’ll have a shorter commute this year? Or find $20 worth of stuff I want to buy at Target?
Since I routinely get 30% off total purchase coupons for CVS their flu shot coupon is not an incentive. Target may still be.
