Vidja Games - They'll Rot Yer Brain!

So cool!

But Windows 10 + bluetooth right? So it could have a mouse maybe?

The new Pokemon game is going to be on both old switch and new switch! So there’s not even that incentive

I’m planning to wait too. It seems rad and I’m excited for new games but…i can wait.

One hub to make my gaming tablet thing work like a PC, one for when I want it portable. There are some good workarounds.

Whatever that Legion thing is, it looks cool. Tab? Doesn’t look like the right handles for a Legion Go?

It’s a legion go. I took the controllers off because it’s functionally a tablet/ laptop right now, they clip on easily when I want them.

The right controller can work as a mouse but it’s not as ergonomic as a real mouse.

I’ve been using this as my only computer since December and I am overall very pleased with it. Versatile, portable, powerful enough for anything I would normally do. The small screen makes it not ideal for watching stuff and the sound quality is terrible but I can’t think of any other complaints.

Anyone checking out Sunderfolk?

Very cute, streamlined Gloomhaven (with visuals that remind you of Humblewood.)

Oooo
I got suckered into playing Fantasy life I. It’s super cute! But hard for me to rec as it’s a full price game and I’m not sure that’s… Correct for it.
But someday I’ll be ready for another game so thanks!

Question for people who play a wider variety of games than me - is there a game for the switch that is like Zelda? I love BOTW and TOTK. I got the new one Echos of Wisdom but it is obviously way different and I don’t like it. I think I like less cutesy, more active adventure, but nothing with gore. The ability to go wherever I want in the universe, gathering things and doing quests.

I don’t know the correct terms to use when searching for a similar game, but it looks like Elder Scrolls might fall into the same category?

Gosh BOTW and TOTK are so good yes yes.
Useful search terms if you haven’t tried them yet:

  • open world
  • crafting

Ahh those are both such good games.

Elder Scrolls Skyrim is open world but very different aesthetics, less cutesy. Lots of fighting and adventure and a more realistic art style but I wouldn’t call it gorey.

You’re playing on Switch, right? I haven’t tried them but you might look at Monster Hunter, Xenoblade Chronicles, Assassin’s Creed.

PS anti recommendation for the Witcher games, they fit this genre well BUT have a lot of gore.

Thank you!!

Yeah Witcher is good but. Uh. Has a Lot of content warnings of basically every variety. And also an annoying number if cinematic cut screens.

I just played In Other Waters and it was lovely!
I put in about 6 hours to finish the story. Very low visuals based on vectors, but a compelling story that was a mix of sad and hopeful. I would rec if you are looking for a game in the “story based, defined length” category.

I strongly recommend A Short Hike. It’s cute and pretty and appropriate for any age at all but not boring.

Basically you wander around a provincial park picking up shells and coins, admiring the view, swimming, gliding, and running. It’s relaxing and fun and I love it.
