I vote in WA, which is 100% mail in ballots. I like it, because my “overseas” ballot doesn’t have to wait and be counted last.
There was some fuckery a month ago where I got dropped from the rolls and my driver’s license number wouldn’t match to allow me to be re-registered. I had to call the Secretary of State, and a very nice real live person helped me get it all fixed. I guess WA drops people who have their renewal license mailed out of state, and won’t allow internet re-enrollment. Clear and present fuckery, but whatevs, it got fixed.
And I’ve gotta say, voting by email is chef’s kiss
Colorado here - I dropped off my mail-in ballot at a ballot box by my work yesterday, and by the end of the day I had an email letting me know it had been received and verified.
Interestingly, almost 50% of registered voters in CO (myself included) are not affiliated with any party.
Voted and dropped my ballot off at the library last weekend. Like @chaskavitch - since I’m in CO I got a text message by the end of the day letting me know that they received and verified my ballot.
ETA: It took me multiple hours of sitting down and researching to figure out all the ballot measures and down-ticket candidates, etc. I used to live in another state (FL) where we had to vote in person, and I think I’m a much more informed and careful voter when I can vote at home with my ballot that is automatically sent to me. Mail in ballots FOR ALL!
Connecticut here - I just voted in person! This year for the first time there is early voting in this state (insert eye roll, WHYYYY did it take so long, even Utah has had it for years!), but I decided to go this morning. Early voting here is still an in-person event. However, on the ballot was the question of whether anyone can absentee vote (right now you need a “good reason” to vote absentee, but they are proposing “no reason needed” - essentially mail in ballots).
ETA: I live in a house district that was very close last election, so there are actually some stakes here!
If you’re registered as an independent/unaffiliated, you can vote in EITHER primary. They send you both ballots!
You can only vote in one, but you can choose which one.
ETA - We have a ballot measure this year, Proposition 131, that’s technically about ranked choice voting, but the text also adds an “all-candidate primary election for certain state and federal offices, where the top four candidates advance to the general election.”
Dropped my ballot off in a dropbox last Friday morning and got an email that it had been counted later that day! I love the pretty “I voted” virtual sticker they include in the confirmation email
I voted in person because I did not get it together to vote early. I am lucky to live on the outskirts of town and had a very tiny very quiet polling place in my neighborhood. In and out in less than 10 minutes
MN here! Voted early in person. Having to go vote is still weird after years of vote by mail in UT. I know I can request an absentee ballot but haven’t managed to think about it until after the deadline both times.
