Today I Learned

Whoa! That’s a huge weight for rear facing. I feel like they are going to need to develop new seat

Oh NVM it is okay after 2. I was thinking about my 39.5 almost 5yo and how uncomfortable he’d be rear facing :joy:. Still going to be some squishy toddler legs but not as bad. And toddlers are squishier by nature

I also thought it was 40 lbs regardless of age! Cuckoo still looks comfy back there but she’s like 30lbs soaking wet and probably won’t be 40 lbs until like age 5. Most car seats do rear face to at least 40 lbs but they do have height restrictions!

But my understanding from my car seat group is that cops are usually happy if it looks approximately correct. It’s not like they have a scale or they’re gonna look up the birth certificate!

Minnesota actually passed even more restrictive laws that say kids need to max out their seat before moving on to the next step. For example they have to max out rear facing before being turned and the full harness before moving to a booster. My 30 pound 3.5 year old is probably going to be rear facing until like 5 at this rate.

I would never go anywhere. Duckling started vomiting & motion sickness about age 2 with rear facing.

Haha yeah if you live in the desert you know to turn the AC on full blast and roll down all the windows when you first get in the car to push out the hot air faster! People who don’t grown up in extreme heat always look at me strange when I do that

We also know this in the deep south. Helps with the humidity, too.

Yep. I didn’t understand for years why having leather seats was supposed to be a brag. Get into my sauna of a car and burn my legs? No thanks.

Leather seats are also colder in the winter! I’m not a fan of them for hot OR cold weather. Ideally I’d have cloth seats with seat warmers, but those are hard to find.

Me too! But only the base model comes with cloth seats in a lot of cars and the higher models come with features that I want.

I do have to say that the Mazda pleather is surprisingly nice. But I wish I had heated seats right now :joy:

This was my demand when looking for a new car. Struck out. I don’t understand the obsession with leather seats.

I had a Hyundai Elantra with heated cloth seats and it was magical.

My mom’s car has a heated steering wheel which was so amazing. I’m not sure if that even comes in a non-leather option, though.

My mom had that!

So dreamy

And dogs find them very slippery when riding in a car (though they should be safely in a crate).

I have heated seats in my outback. I feel like I will be living the high life if I ever get a car with a heated steering wheel!
